Senior Jayden Davis Awarded Prestigious Posse Scholarship for Full Tuition to Tulane University

New Orleans, January 17, 2024 – Holy Cross senior Jayden Davis has been selected as a recipient of the prestigious Posse Scholarship, a youth leadership and college access initiative that provides full tuition scholarships and a supportive network to students.

The Posse Foundation, which boasts over 12,000 members and partners with more than 60 colleges nationwide, has committed billions of dollars to students. Notable alumni include Shirley Collado, the first woman of color to serve as president of Ithaca College, as well as numerous accomplished individuals in journalism, medicine, and leadership roles.

Over 17,000 students were nominated for the Posse Scholarship this year and only 890 were selected for this prestigious award. Through a rigorous series of interviews and essays, Davis secured his spot in Tulane’s Posse 13. His inclusion will contribute to bringing over 100 million dollars in scholarship funds to Louisiana.

Davis will attend Tulane as a pre-medicine student. He has a passion for all things science, but especially for medicine. His prior achievements include completing the Ochsner STAR program, a unique opportunity that immerses students in the world of healthcare. He was also successful in the greater New Orleans Science fair in 2023, which led to his invitation to the International Science and Engineering fair.

Davis is an active member of the Holy Cross Ambassadors, Campus Ministry Team, and the Scholar's Program. He is Captain of the Debate Team and Chair of the Brother Aiden Debating Society, displaying his commitment to both academic and extracurricular pursuits.

The Posse Scholarship recognizes academic excellence and values leadership potential and a commitment to make a positive impact. Jayden's selection is a testament to his outstanding qualities and his potential for a bright future.

When asked about his accomplishments, Davis humbly acknowledged his pride and said, “I’d like to thank all the amazing faculty and staff at Holy Cross, especially those in the science department and Scholar’s Program, for instilling in me a strong academic foundation and an even stronger faith life. I will happily continue to strive towards a career in medicine and grow as a Holy Cross Man at Tulane University.”

Congratulations, Jayden Davis ’24! Holy Cross is proud of your accomplishments and looks forward to watching your continued success.
