What led you to teaching/working in a school?

I always wanted to be a teacher when I grew up. I loved playing school when I was little. In high school I worked as a camp counselor during the summer and I greatly enjoyed working with children.

How do you normally spend your summer breaks?

I enjoy spending time with family and friends in the summer. I also go on a vacation with my husband and children every summer. This past summer we went to Buffalo, NY to visit family. We also visited Niagara Falls on our vacation. It was amazing to see and experience it in person.

What are your interests?

I enjoy spending time with my husband, three children, and our new puppy Copper. I also enjoy reading and recently joined a book club.

Are you actively involved in anything outside of school?

No

If you were trapped on a desert island, what coworker would you want there to keep you company?

I would bring Ms. Jade. She is my sidekick in first grade. We make a great team in the anchor classroom.

What is your favorite food?

I like macaroni and cheese.

What is the most satisfying thing about working with students?

It is fun to create engaging and exciting lessons and activities for my students. It is also amazing to watch the first graders begin the school year as early readers who can read a few words on a page to students who can read paragraphs and chapter books at the end of the year.

What is your professional motto?

The words of Blessed Basil Moreau “The mind will not be cultivated at the expense of the heart” truly speak to me as educator.
