Our Holy Cross Cheerleaders are living the dream. They have made it to the grand stage. Our cheerleaders have made it to nationals’. This is very exciting for the team and for the HC community. It wasn’t easy. They practice constantly, and it is nonstop work. I had the pleasure of interviewing two members of the cheerleading team, Jada Wesley and Alejandro Raphael who are both seniors. I asked Alex does he think his team got this far, and he said “Because of the hard work and dedication that my teammates contributed to each individual routine and it came out to something real nice which lead to completing what we had to get done". During my talk with Alex I could tell by the way he spoke about his team that he believed each member had the determination and spirit to go to the top.
At practice they must focus on every drill, every step, and every movement to perfect their craft. One wrong move and the whole performance can crumble. When I interviewed Jada, I asked her “Do you ever get tired during cheer?”, and she responded with, “Honestly, yes I do. Cheer can be very tiring because your body aches and you just aren’t in the right mood to practice and go hard.” After speaking with the cheerleaders, I realized how hard our Holy Cross Cheerleading team works. They push themselves to the limit everyday just so that they can represent our school in a positive light. They trained themselves to keep pushing, to keep their heads up and always shoot for the stars. In Disney our team gave it their all, and left it on the matt, and even though they didn’t win the big title, they are still winners to the HC community. We are proud of you, tigers!
