Wrestling off to a Strong Start

Holy Cross hosted the Brother Martin Crusaders Wednesday night in a wrestling dual meet that met everyone's expectations of the intense match-up between two teams in contention of becoming the 2018-19 LHSAA Division I State Champions.

The cheerleaders and the Holy Cross Pep band, along with a student section spilling out of the bleachers, contributed to the electric atmosphere. Freshman Henry Herbert sang the National Anthem beautifully before the varsity team faced off with their opponents on the mat. Despite Brother Martin winning the meet 32-25, Coach Nick Michael is confident that his team will continue to work hard in preparation for the ultimate show-down at the state tournament in February.

In the meantime, the Varsity team departs this weekend for the Border Wars Tournament in South Walton, Florida. The next home dual meet will be Senior Night on January 23rd when Holy Cross hosts Jesuit.
