Ian Hoerner is an ordinary guy, a religion teacher and TCAC coach at Holy Cross school. However, there is a unique side of him known outside of school only to YouTube, a video streaming website. Youtube’s viewers know him as Odin. Odin, to be exact, is Coach Hoerner’s middle name and what I like to call his alternate personality. Odin is an active movie enthusiast who runs and manages, “Odin’s Movie Blog”. On this blog he does movie reviews, reactions and hosts live streams talking amongst varying movie subjects. At Holy Cross, Coach Hoerner teaches freshman and juniors theology, but his fame far surpasses the classroom. Coach Hoerner is loved by his past and present students whom support Odin’s Movie Blog. Many viewers tune into the live streams and engage in commenting below the video, joking, supporting and discussing contents. My favorite comment by far was satirical and written by a senior, Daniel Monoghan, stating, “Anyone saw Marley and Me? What was your favorite part of the movie? I still haven’t finished it so don’t want any spoilers but it’s probably the happiest movie I’ve ever seen.” Now, anyone who has ever seen the movie will understand the satire here. Coach Hoerner responded to this comment while reading it out loud encouraging Daniel to finish the movie and letting him know that there’s more to this “happy” story. Odin had a spotlight on HCTV where he responded to “mean” tweets and had an interview with Trevor Terminie. One of the tweets stated, “I’m pretty sure the hair that should be on your head is growing out on your face, now I know why you wear the hat so much in your videos.” He responded with just a simple smile. During the interview Odin’s fame around campus was brought up and he was asked how he is handling his “fame”. Of course, the ever humble and gracious Odin responded saying that “famous” is quite a stretch. Although, more people do know him around campus, and there was an incident when he walked into a general awards assembly, everyone applauded and chanted “ODIN! ODIN! ODIN!” enthusiastically cheering on Coach Hoerner and his alternate identity. Now people have always wondered about the truth around Coach Hoerner’s great Odin like beard. When asked on a scale of 1-10 how fake is the beard really, Odin let Trevor tug on such a magnificent beard, a sign of good luck, to prove just how authentic this august beard is. In the past Odin’s most loved videos and streams were ones about Star Wars and when asked about any upcoming plans or future ideas he mentions a Star Wars behind-the-scenes documentary reaction hopefully becoming one of his next big hits. For reference Star Wars Episode II is Odin’s favorite movie being in his words one of the most amazingly produced and plot twisted movie to come yet.
