Senior Matthew Morrison Gets a Head Start on Entrepreneurship Career

Matthew Morrison has always been a successful student here at Holy Cross. He is in our AP Scholars program, the most rigorous academic courses. He serves as an elected School Ambassador. He is also a member of our speech and debate team.

Morrison plans to attend Tulane next fall to major in finance as well as minor in Business with the aspirations of business ownership and entrepreneurial endeavors. He currently is running a successful landscaping company that has been in operation since he was 12 years old! His business Diamond Cuts LLC maintains both residential and commercial areas. As the holidays were approaching, inspiration struck, and he immediately took action. He is launching a unique service offering for Christmas tree delivery, disposal, and other decorating services.

When asked about how he came up with this he explained that the initial concept was developed because he felt everyone deserves to have a tree during Christmas time. His founding mission is "Christmas trees aren't just decorations; they're the evergreen heart of the holiday, bringing warmth, joy, and a touch of magic to every household, reminding us that in the midst of winter, there's always room for a little light."

His first thought was that those who are not of able body or without adequate transportation should not miss out on having a tree in their home. Additionally, he began to think about how busy a modern family can be with work, school, and other obligations. He thought this service could help provide ease to a family’s holiday season. He mentioned how we live in the age of doorstep delivery so this is just one more thing you can have brought to you. “Everything gets delivered these days. People pay $20 just to have food delivered.”  He thought delivering and disposing of Christmas trees could truly add convenience to the tradition.

As his business concept developed, he thought of those who were financially burdened around the holiday season. He then added options for gifting and donating trees. This allows those in the community to give back to families or individuals in need.

He is already off to a great start with several bookings. He has said that many of his courses here at Holy Cross have given him skills to make this reality but especially notes how much his economics class prepared him to take on this project. We are so proud of his initiative and his eye for serving the community. We also are so impressed by his business savvy skills and entrepreneurial ambition!
