Letter to Parents for Billing Course Fees 23-24

Dear Parents,

The Finance Department at Holy Cross is working on updating your son’s tuition account with textbook and course fees associated with your son’s particular grade level and/or choices of elective courses. Some elective courses require fees to be paid for supplies and other materials essential for the class.  The billing will be added to your November 2023 statement and will auto-draft from your account on your designated due date for that month.

The following summarizes the course fees that will be added to your son’s tuition account in November 2023:

ACT Test Prep Software

As noted earlier in the school year, all students in grades 8 – 12 will be charged for using the Ray Dass SARA Program to assist in ACT preparation.  We saw a significant return on the purchase last school year for all students and are excited to continue to provide this program for all 8th – 12th graders, which we feel will continue to increase overall performance on standardized tests.  The cost for each student will be $105.00.

Advance Placement (AP) Course Fees

For all AP courses taken by students, a charge will be billed to each student’s tuition account based on the actual cost of taking the test plus an administrative fee incurred by Holy Cross in obtaining and mailing the tests back.  The cost of the test depends on the individual course taken by the student and will range from $110.00 to $160.00.

Art

For elective art classes (Art I, Art II, Art II Honors, and Art IV Honors), students are charged a course fee of $115.00 for supplies used in the day-to-day instruction.

Band

For Beginning and Intermediate Band classes, students for the 2023-2024 school year are charged a course fee of $105.00.  For Tiger Band classes, students are charged a course fee of $155.00.  This fee helps to cover the cost of music, repair of instruments, and other supplies.

Chorus

For elective chorus classes (Chorus I, Chorus II, Chorus III Honors, and Course IV Honors) students are charged a course fee of $10.00 to cover the cost of music and other supplies.

Dual Enrollment Course Fees

Like the AP course fees noted above, a charge will be billed to each student’s tuition account based on the actual cost of taking a dual enrollment class at Holy Cross through an individual university/college institution.  The cost of dual enrollment will range from $150.00 to $300.00.

Math

As in previous years, we have determined that significant savings could be passed along to families if Holy Cross purchased in bulk all math textbooks/online access for grades 5-12.  For the current school year, we were additionally able to use some federal grant funds to offset costs associated with online access for certain math programs.  The following details the savings to be realized by families given our move to the Holy Cross bulk purchase vs. individual student purchase via the online bookstore:

Science

For all students in grades 5 – 8, Holy Cross determined, similar to the math textbooks noted above, that a bulk purchase by Holy Cross of science workbooks/consumables could result in savings for families.  Consequently, the following details savings to be realized by families given our move to the Holy Cross bulk purchase vs. individual student purchase via the online bookstore:

Science Course Fees

For students in the following elective science classes, the following course fees are charged for supplies necessary in each class:

Scince Course fees

The charge associated with the Smart Suite application above relates to all students taking a class from Mr. Lindsey.  Holy Cross purchased in bulk SMART Suite Licenses so that all students could realize the full benefit of Mr. Lindsey’s computer-based teaching.

As all 2023-24 course changes have now been processed, fees for classes will be billed to your son’s tuition account if he is enrolled in that class.  If your son is on the class roster for any of the attached courses, you can anticipate an increase in your November tuition payment.  For accounts paid in full or semi-annually, the payment will auto-draft for those fees in November.  Please refer to your tuition account for your due date.

The applicable adjustments will be made before the end of this month.  To view your account details, you may log in to Blackbaud Tuition Management https://parent.blackbaud.school/ , call 888-868-8828, or email the Tuition Manager, Sue Ducros, at [email protected] with any questions you may have.

Sincerely,
