Tips for Senior Prom

Attention seniors, as you know prom is rapidly approaching. The date of prom is April 8th which is a Friday this year. Luckily our Senior Luncheon is the same day, so we will come to school in are luncheon suits, go to the luncheon, and are dismissed form there. So, you don’t have to worry about not having enough time to get ready. There are some things you should know and remember before prom to make sure you are prepared for it and to not have any hiccups in the process of the night.

The first order of business is dinner. Make sure you eat before you go, whether that be going out to eat before, or doing something at someone’s house. Either way, remember to eat before, because you will regret not eating halfway through the dances you’ll burn plenty of energy having fun with friends on the dance floor. According to senior Ashton Castro, “Last year my date and I got Canes because that is what she wanted, and it was awesome. Way better than eating at some fancy restaurant”. So go eat where you want, although I personally wouldn’t recommend Canes (see my former blog).

The second thing is to remember to be dressed properly. Prom is a formal event, which means tuxedos for the guys and long formal dresses for the girls. I think everyone gets that rule but remember to keep those dress items classy. Its ok to have designs but don’t make it anything that looks like you’re trying to make fun or be obnoxious, and guys remember to remind your date that their dresses must be somewhat modest. Try to avoid big slits, or anything too revealing. Don’t take these rules lightly, people have been turned away in the past, and you don’t want that person to be you this time. If you have any questions about what is ok, ask Mr. Ferry.

Lastly remember to keep your act together during the dance. Remember this is still a school event, so there will be administrators and teachers there. Everyone wants you to have a good time, but you also can’t get out of hand. Have a good time, but don’t put anyone in danger, don’t be impulsive, and make good decisions. So, before you do anything too crazy, try to remember if it wouldn’t fly at school, it probably won’t fly at prom.

Now go out and enjoy your last prom, guys!
