And the New Headmaster Is....

Last week Holy Cross announced their decision of the new headmaster. After searching through many candidates and multiple meet and greets, the board came to their decision on choosing Mr. William J. Gallagher. Mr. Gallagher is a retired Army Colonel. He went to school at West Point, where after he served in the military for 28 years. After he got out the military he went into a career of education. Now he will be serving as our new headmaster. Pretty much everyone who has met him so far believe he is a great fit for Holy Cross, and he will do a great job. Mr. Gallagher will officially take over his role on April 1. I personally am excited to see what he will do for Holy Cross. I believe he has the potential to be a great headmaster, but I also do believe he should take his time with the role and really learn all of the rich history and tradition of Holy Cross, so he can help make decisions that are best for the school, but also keeping those values in mind.

I asked some students about their thoughts on the incoming new headmaster. I interviewed an outgoing senior for their opinion because I felt like they would have a good opinion on the change since they have been at HC for so long.  This is what senior Ethan Ward said about the announcement of the new headmaster: “Obviously I won’t be here much longer, but I am excited about the new headmaster. I feel like if it was a unanimous decision for Mr. Gallagher then he must be a great person for the job, and I am excited for all the underclassman.” I also interviewed an underclassman about their opinion since they still have more time here at Holy Cross so their opinion may be different. 8th Grader Matthew Krail commented, “I am excited about the headmaster. I have heard stories about how Holy Cross used to be, and if the school thinks he is the right choice, I hope he comes in and brings us back to the way Holy Cross was always described to me”.

The enthusiasm is undisputed. Everyone is very happy and anticipating great things with our new leadership. HC’s future is very bright and seems to be in good hands. Welcome to the family, Mr. Gallagher!

We are HC!
