Heard It In the {Virtual} Hallways

The talk around the world is the corona-virus and how it is spreading so quickly. Countries have decided to quarantine which basically means to stay away from people and stay at home. About a week ago the Governor of Louisiana decided that all schools will transition to virtual classes. Although it is a tough transition, it is something that is necessary to stop the corona-virus from spreading. Initially, we were supposed to be in a 2-week quarantine but that was extended indefinitely. I asked students and teachers from Holy Cross how they are dealing with the quarantine and these are a few of their answers:

Senior Donnell Byrd: “I hate it.”

Senior Steven Kitto: “I’m bored. I’d rather be in school then have these days off.”

Senior Celven Hulbert: “I don’t like this. How am I supposed to teach myself calculus                        and physics?! It was hard enough in class.”

Junior Dominic Dejoie: “It sucks, I’m becoming insane in this house all alone with no            females. Social isolation is not the wave.”

Freshman Devin Harris: “I am dying. I am beginning to talk to myself. This is really                 crazy.”

Coach Stuart Hayers: “Netflix and exercise!!”

Mrs. Clark: “I am missing my students but still just as committed to giving them a sense      of normalcy right now. I will admit, however, that I am exhausted as all of us                                    teachers are working double-time to make sure you guys are still on track for the school                   year.”

Mrs. Gonzales: “When I’m not working or homeschooling my own kids, we’re going on                      plenty of bike rides, decorating with a lot of chalk, playing board games, and having                           virtual meetings with my own circle of friends to keep sane.”
