The 2019-2020 baseball season is right around the corner and there are some big changes happening to the baseball field. They had a great season last year with a record of 21-12 with 2 ties. They had a great district record, 8-4, which was one of the best in the Catholic league. The first big renovation for this upcoming season is the dug-outs for the home and away teams. They added turf to the ground because it looks better than the concrete and it is also safer for the players because it allows the players to have traction with their cleats. They also added a huge fence surround the baseball field to protect the houses behind the field from home-runs or over-thrown balls. When asking senior center fielder, Christian Calamari what he thought about the new renovations, he said “It is really exciting to have all these new features my senior year. I’m looking forward to playing my senior year on this new field.” Senior, Bryan Broussard, another center fielder said he loves the new changes and is looking forward to playing on the new field. Broussard added, “The only thing we are missing is a locker room and we are working on that right now.” The HC baseball program also redid the mounds, moved the bleachers closer to the field, and created a separate section for the students. Ryan Kamlade, an assistant coach for the baseball team said, “I cannot wait for them to be completely finished because it is going to look really nice and they are going to get many things from this renovation.” Holy Cross Park is definitely a big attraction on the main campus and it is going to look even better now. The baseball team is pumped from these new looks and features and feel like they will exceed the season that they had last year. GO TIGERS!!!
