Due to the heart-breaking performance on September 15th Drew Brees, Saints’ Quarterback, is scheduled to undergo surgery on his right thumb. This injury is detrimental to the Saints’ offense as well as their entire team. Drew Brees has started a total of 13 years since he got to the Saints in 2006. To kick off our “Heard it in the Hallways” publication, our staff decided to ask around campus,
“What are your thoughts on Drew Brees being out for the next 6-8 weeks?”
“It’s very bad because we probably are going to lose. He is the heart and soul of the team.”
-Chase Baiamonte, '27
“I think it’s a shame for the Saints, and as much as I’m not a Saints fan, I love the man because he is a good Christian, good father, good family man, and a good symbol of what’s positive about athletes in today’s sports world.”
-Raymond Charbonneau, Civics Teacher
“It’s not good. I guess the Saints offense is going to have to find creative ways to gain yards and hopefully make our team all around.”
-Coach Collin, Defensive Back Coach
“Dang! I did not even know it was 6 to 8 weeks?! Well, we’re about to go 0-6 or 0-8. Teddy won’t do it for us.”
-Celven Hulbert, ‘20
“I think him not being able [to play] for 6-8 weeks will really hurt the Saints’ record because I feel like Teddy Bridgewater won’t live up to what Drew Brees can do for the team.”
-Ahmad Coleman, '19
“I think that’s awful, but we’ll survive. I just wish him well.”
-Dixie Crayton, Administrative Associate
“It’s going to be tough for us to win games. It’s an opportunity to see how Bridgewater or Tayson Hill will do, depending on who they play back there. You know, everybody is saying it’s going to be Bridgewater, but if the defense plays like it played in the beginning of the game, we will be fine.”
-Coach Guillot, Administrative Director
“I think it ruins our chances for playoffs this year.”
-Cindy Bourque, 7th grade Math Teacher
“Oh no! Is that really confirmed? What can I say? I’m sad!”
-Maria Hooper, 5th grade Science Teacher
“I’m devastated! I don’t know how I can watch football without Drew Brees. Hopefully Bridgewater will step up to the plate.”
-Ms. Susie, Middle School Assistant
