This month is Tiger Pride Month. Throughout the month, HC takes a week to recognize important factors of our school. The first week is student appreciation week; the second is dedicated to service; and, the third is teacher appreciation week. To celebrate the faculty, teachers at Holy Cross' main campus will get subway sandwiches on Monday, a nacho bar Tuesday, doughnuts Wednesday. While the students have off Thursday, the teachers have a day of service along with a crawfish boil to end the week. This whole week of festivities and food is organized and executed by PAC (Parent Advancement Council), a group of Holy Cross parents from grades PK4-12 who work together with Holy Cross in improving the school. At the Primary school, there are similar activities that are being provided for the teachers: the first is a breakfast solely for the teachers, then primary school students are making artwork for the teachers, and finally, the primary school students will be giving their teachers nice flowers. The Primary faculty will also join the main campus family for the day of service on Thursday followed by the crawfish boil.
Teachers work around the clock every year to make sure students thrive. This week is the time to show them that the students appreciate the time and effort they spend. English V dual enrollment and AP teacher Dr. Jacobi says, “Of course, I enjoy all of the treats we are getting for teacher appreciation week. It might be nice, though, to have something more personal from individual students or groups of students, even a little note or shout-out to a teacher would be cool.” A personal item would be a very deep way of connecting with a teacher especially if you’re a senior and want a teacher to remember you in a special way. English III-V teacher Coach Sines says he wants, “Students actually bringing their books to class, Jalen Womble shaving his chinstrap, all seniors being clean-shaven, $1,000 in cash, a thank you card somehow involving a picture of a kitty, and heirloom furniture.” Although some of these requests are outlandish and comical, some of these are legitimate and would be appreciated by all teachers. From the student body to the faculty, we love and appreciate everything that you do for us. Thank you!
