Beginning a New Brotherhood

By Patrick Carrol

The senior luncheon was a great time for the class of 2019 to be able to interact with alumni and to unite as a whole for one of the last times this year. The luncheon is used to induct the seniors into the Holy Cross Alumni association. More than 40 alumni attended the event, which took place at Messina’s at The Terminal. Deacon Doug Busch ’75 opened the event with an invocation; Monsignor Bob Massett ’55 shared a few words with us; and Brigadier General Patrick Bossetta ’78 served as the main speaker. The food was great they started out with soup followed by shrimp and pasta with vegetables on the side.  Alumni at the event, including Jared Berges ’06 and Andrew Lopez ’04, said that Holy Cross was a huge part of why they are the hard workers they are today.  Jared Berges went on to say, “The biggest thing I took away from Holy Cross was perseverance. Without Holy Cross I would not have been able to get through the hardships of college and even after college in my career and family life. Holy Cross really sets you up for success.”  Senior Jonathan Lonker commented on being seated by random saying, “It was great to be able to bond with people in our class that I do not regularly see. I could really feel the Holy Cross brotherhood at the lakefront arena, and I am going to embrace these last few events we have together as a class. The senior luncheon brought a new appreciation that I have for Holy Cross that I never had before.” Overall, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves as it was a bittersweet event for the graduating senior class. They must say goodbye to HC but enter into a new brotherhood of alumni.
