This past free agent season the New Orleans Saints signed running back Latavius Murray to a 4 year deal worth $14.4 million. After seeing this many people assumed that Mark Ingram would be traded or cut. That's exactly what happened. Ingram signed a deal with the Baltimore Ravens that was worth $15 million over a three year span. Ingram has been a part of the New Orleans Saints since the 2011 football season. Over the course of his time here, he turned out to be an elite running back. Ingram holds some of the New Orleans Saints running back records such as: 50 career touchdowns and rushing over 6,300 yards over the 8 year span. Many people were upset with the Saints for not resigning him. Many argue that saving 500k in cap space was not worth getting rid of our all-time leading rusher. When the news broke that Ingram was going to be on another team, Kamara sent out a tweet towards Ingram that showed the appreciation he had for him. Ingram later tweeted back that he was his brother for life.
Following the Mark Ingram madness, I went around school asking students how they felt. Here’s what I got:
(’19) Dominic Lamm – “I’ve always thought Mark was a savage. When I found out he was leaving, I immediately thought of how Kamara must feel. I hope Ingram leaving does not hurt Kamara’s play.”
(’20) Blaine Rocha – “Personally I’m not really a Saints fan, however losing Mark is not going to be a big deal for you all, Murray will be able to hand the role that he has since Kamara will be toting the rock around the most.”
(’20) Tyler Grubbs – “If the Saints are losing without him then I’ll be upset. If we keep winning then it really wouldn’t matter to me.”
(’21) Davis Stephens – “I was a huge Mark Ingram fan ever since he became a Saint, it’s going to be weird watching him in a different uniform. I wish him much success.”
(’21) Jayden Handy – “As a running back I liked the enthusiasm and character he played with, I’m not really a Saints fan so him leaving does not really affect me.”
(’23) Arya Rashkabar – “Ingram was cool and all but as long as we got Kamara still, I’m good.”
(’26) Chase Baiamonte – “I hope Mark does good with the Ravens except for when they play us.”
(’26) Noah Remetich – “I wish Mark was still a Saint, however I believe we made this cap space in order for us to pick up someone really good.”
