Debate Team Wins First Place at New Orleans Catholic Forensics League

This past weekend, the Brother Aiden O’Reilly, C.S.C. Debating Society had an exemplary performance at the New Orleans Catholic Forensics League City Championship. The team won first place in Debate Sweepstakes and earned second in Overall Sweepstakes.

Senior Austin Wyman received first place honors in Student Congress, fourth place in Original Oratory, and won the Public Forum Debate division with his partner, senior Mason Wallace. In addition to his debate victory, Wallace earned fourth place in Student Congress.

Senior Blake Ziegler received first place in Extemporaneous Speaking, first place in Lincoln-Douglas Debate, second place in Student Congress, and fifth place in Original Oratory. Ziegler also won the Forensics Award, given to the participant with the best performance in forensics events. Sophomore Tahj Johnson earned sixth place in Student Congress.

The team is looking to build on this momentum going into the district tournament this weekend and state tournament later this month.
