The Holy Cross School brotherhood comes to life as members of the Class of 1970 and the Class of 2020 partner on a year-long service project to provide and serve meals at the Ozanam Inn.

welcome back they may be separated by 50 years but service to our community is bring together Holy Cross seniors and alumni members of the class of 1970 senior class of 2020 in a year-long project at o Sanam this morning we are joined by Holy Cross alumnus and class captain for the class of 1970 just for tally and two seniors at Holy Cross about the opportunity to give back good morning you so much for joining me this morning and I cannot wait to talk about it Joe I want to know first service project about 5 or 6 years ago and we started talking about things we could do in a deacon Richard decent who was the neighbor of mine was heavily involved with those are not in and so told us about it should we got a group of together it from the neighborhood and we started going there and serving food at night for dinner amazing are hot meals and itches it's incredible and then and in talking with some of my 70 classmates and we will get together for lunch and talk about then we talked about what we could do to make that more meaningful and show their the thought of community service came up and getting back and so we talked about it and and next thing you knew we had about 20 class of 70 guys are interested and so we did that and it was a lot of fun did that for couple of years and then and talking to Mike the Amanti at Holy Cross about what we were doing and Mike's or suggested that perhaps we can get the kids involved and so my kind of floated that with some of some of these guys and before you knew what we had not only the class of 70 old guys there but we had kids from this this from current students now they helped us the last few times last time we were there we had we had our 15 or 2070 guys and we had about nine guys from the current classes you what is it been like being able to violence what you know the alumni and as a current student has been a great experience cuz it's brought me and my classmates a lot closer together in a lot of great bonding experience and starting with the class of 1972 showed us what we're going to look like in the future and how they they're a lot like us but just 50 years old yes so great and Merrick for you I love that they're teaching you all about servant leadership cuz we all think of leadership others what is a been like and what is it talk to about server this is really show me like there's a role in needs to be filled in the community that we all need to step up and take and now it's really easy to comment on situations and look at stuff from afar and you know not not really get face-to-face but it's really life-changing and I opening went on when you really get to translate yourself absolutely serve it to the folks at Ocean on its the transitional shelter and their bladder probably about a hundred folks that actually lived there and so we serve them and then after we serve them they open it up to literally the most amazing and we serve those folks outside as well so it's just really gratifying I hear that and I have to know again I'm just learning about Holy Cross because of the holy cross that I know it was you know it was men and women but this one's only cross man well for me call about giving back until about service you know we got a great education at Holy Cross in a Reading Writing and arithmetic but the thing that they taught us most was I think Fellowship in serving others that's what we've carried with us and it's just so gratifying to see the young kids carrying on that that tradition it's it's just crazy to people right here their Futures are bright congratulations is graduating at the end May write I'm guessing this congratulations on what's your favorite part about going to Holy Cross my favorite part is probably the Brotherhood we all feel like a family no one's really feels disjointed wrong unified Anthony those dudes are you know why there's a certain bond that comes with being a Holy Cross man that you know you can't describe him and I'm not many people able to experience that with a whole another group of people and education wants to be an orthopedic surgeon I already go by going to that website you can also give them a call at 5 31
