Faculty Spotlight: Dr. Kara Jacobi

As a Holy Cross educator, I take on the responsibility of not only preparing my students for college coursework but of also helping to mold them into responsible, compassionate citizens. I love teaching literature because through literary texts, students are able to see the world through the eyes of others. Students become more empathetic as they take on the perspectives of a wide range of characters, and they also enhance their critical thinking skills as they analyze the selections. Reading, discussing, and writing about literature assists students in developing essential skills for college and career, but also teaches them to interact with others, respect a variety of opinions, and critically assess complex problems. In fostering these habits of mind, I hope to play a small part in preparing our students to effect change in their community and in the world.
