Name, Job Title, Classes you teach?

Justin Toepfer, World Geography Teacher, TCAC, 5th/6th Metro Flag Football, 8th Grade Basketball

Where did you go to college? What is your degree(s) or field of study?

I graduated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, with a degree in Secondary Education in Social Studies

What is the most interesting part of your job?

There is never a boring day and always something to do. Each day brings new adventures and every student presents a different challenge.

How long have you been working for Holy Cross School?

I started teaching at Holy Cross in 2013, so this is my 7th year teaching.

What is one thing that you think makes Holy Cross School a special place?

One thing that makes Holy Cross special is having a student body that ranges from Pre-K to 12th graders. It’s a neat thing to see how they help look after each other and mold the next generation of Holy Cross Men! It’s a family environment in the literal sense of the word.

Tell us about your favorite memory as a teacher.

I wouldn’t say there is a singular moment that is my favorite memory, but rather what I love most about my job is seeing the students take on the challenges bestowed upon them. Every year our 8th grade Geography class takes part in a World Culture Day and the results of their projects are truly amazing. The students completely immerse themselves in this assignment as they dress up and serve various ethnic foods. This is always one of my favorite events of the year!

Tell us about your teaching philosophy.

I see myself as being someone who can adapt my teaching style to my students. It’s my responsibility to provide an environment that allows our students to grow as learners as well as become more educated and active citizens.
