Holy Cross Wrestling Vision

Holy Cross Wrestling will settle for nothing less than greatness.  It is the overriding objective of this coaching staff to produce a Division II state power.  To be consistently ranked in the top ten in the state, to produce Freestyle and Greco All Americans, and to be competitive with the best teams in the state in dual competitions.  Holy Cross Wrestling will accomplish these objectives by attracting highly motivated wrestlers with like vision willing to pay the price required in fulfilling these objectives.  To field a team of Christian wrestlers with a singleness of purpose totally committed to propelling Holy Cross School to the highest level of LHSAA wrestling, and making an impact on the community along the way.

Mission Statement

Along with achieving the highest level of wrestling success we intend to develop Christ-centered leaders with a heart to impact the culture in which they live.  The sport of wrestling will serve as our platform in developing men who understand their position as ambassadors, recognize their ministry as messengers of truth, and who are proactive in spreading the message of the Holy Cross Man through the sport of wrestling.  A true leader has the confidence to stand alone, the courage to make hard decisions, and the compassion to listen to the needs of others.  He does not set out to be a leader, but becomes one by the quality of his actions and the integrity of his intent.  In the end, leaders are much like Tigers... they don't group; you find them one at a time.  To develop such leadership is the goal of Holy Cross Wrestling.

Philosophy

It is the ambition of Holy Cross Wrestling to produce champions on and off the mat.  It is the belief of this coaching staff that the chief end of man is to bring honor and glory to his God, Family, and School.  It is to this end that our program will strive.  It will be our primary objective to mirror our beliefs in all that we say and do, knowing that we are committed to a higher purpose.  To achieve a high level of success in any endeavor is to be totally committed to excellence.  This will be attained if we care more than others think is wise.  Risk more than others think is safe.  Dream more than others think is practical.  Expect more than others think is possible...

Desire - Devotion - Dedication - Determination - Discipline.  These are to be the basic tenets of the Holy Cross Wrestling philosophy.  These are the essential ingredients required in developing a nationally ranked team.  This program seeks highly talented athletes who possess a heart for God, commitment to family, and are willing to embrace these codes of belief as so required in the pursuit of excellence.  It is upon this very philosophical framework that our program will be established.  We expect every wrestler on this team to make wrestling a priority in union with his academics and spiritual life.  We expect each wrestler to "count the cost"!  To be willing to sacrifice the unimportant for the important, the short term for the long term.  As a coaching staff, we are intent on making sure that each of our wrestlers succeeds in these priorities.  Commitment will be the brand of this program.  To be committed is to stand fast in the face of adversity when feelings pull one way but principle pulls the other.  Ultimately, it is not by might, nor by power, but by spirit we will succeed. .. That is the Holy Cross Way.
