Music Department The Holy Cross Music Program is a comprehensive program for wind, percussion, and vocal students, grades 5-12. There are seven performing ensembles and nine course offerings in the program. It is the goal of the program that upon graduating a student be prepared to actively participate in a college/university music program. Students receive instruction in music theory, as well as, performance practices. Musical instruction culminates in various performances throughout the school year by all ensembles. Music is an essential part of life at Holy Cross and an integral part of the Holy Cross Mission. Educating the whole man, Heart & Mind, Body and Soul. The acclaimed Tiger Band offers students the opportunity to participate in the marching band, symphonic band, jazz ensemble, and to attend regional and national music festivals.
Director of Bands: Mr. Urbaszewski
As a native of Chicago, Illinois, Mr. Urbaszewski is the Director of Band at Holy Cross School. He has spent half of his eight years in education here at Holy Cross. He attended Southern Illinois University where he received his Bachelors in Music Education and Masters in Music Performance.
Asst. Director of Bands: Mrs. Katie Codina Mrs. Codina enters her first year at Holy Cross and will serve as the Director of the Bengal Band and Assistant Director of the Tiger Band. A native of Lafayette, LA, she is a graduate of Comeaux High School. She was a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Loyola University-New Orleans with a Bachelor of Music Education. In addition, Mrs. Codina has performed as Principle Flutist with the Loyola Wind Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra, Principle Piccoloist with the Acadian Wind Symphony, Principle Flute in the CBDNA Intercollegiate Honor Band 2007, Theodore Presser Musician of the Year Award 2006 , Rev. R.J. McNaspy Musician of the Year Award 2005, Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity for Women Sword of Honor, has studied flute with Mrs. Patti Adams and Dr. Andrea Loewy. She is also a member of Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity for Women, Music Educators National Conference.  |
