Scholarship Offerings

The Minvielle Music Scholarship provides the band program with the opportunity to reward deserving returning members to its ranks. The scholarship is based on musical experience, talent and serve to his community.

            Eligibility

            The Minvielle Music Scholarship is awarded as a merit based incentive to those qualified students in instrumental music at Holy Cross. Students must have attended Holy Cross for one school year prior to applying for the scholarship.

            Scholarship Stipend

            The Scholarship amount will be $250.00 for one year. There will be five scholarships awarded each year. Students may receive the scholarship more than once if they re-apply and are selected. All stipends will be in the form of a tuition reduction.

            Application Procedure

            Scholarship recipients must complete a two-step process. First, students complete a scholarship application form which consists of pertinent information concerning their past musical accomplishments, academic and disciplinary standing. In addition, a one page, typed synopsis of why the student feels he deserves to receive the scholarship is completed. Students should also submit two letters of recommendation from past or present teachers. Those who successfully complete the first step and are chosen as semi-finalists will audition for the band directors at Holy Cross. The audition will consists of: a prepared selection of the student's choosing and sight-reading.

            Scholarship Requirements

•1.      Participate in the band program in the various ensembles in which he is needed.

•2.      Will audition for the various honor bands for which he is eligible.

•3.      Will continue to demonstrate his service to the community, school or the Holy Cross Band Program.

•4.      Maintain or improve his cumulative G.P.A. earned at the time the scholarship is awarded.
