Middle School English, Brother Andre Service Society

Mrs. Allerton has been teaching for 30 years, the last seventeen spent at Holy Cross teaching middle school language arts. She earned a B.A. and an M.Ed. from the University of New Orleans. Mrs. Allerton is co-moderator of the Brother Andre Service Society, the middle school service organization. She is also heavily involved with the HC Cross Country and Track teams, first as the mother of two athletes, Classes of 2000 and 2003, and now as the faculty moderator for the cross country team. Mrs. Allerton is a native of New Orleans, is married, and has two sons and two daughters. She also has five grandchildren.

Teacher of AP United States Government and Politics, World History Scholars, and Scholars Seminar, Director of Brother James McDonnell, CSC Scholars Program, and Director of Debating

Byron Arthur enters his sixth year on campus. After returning to his alma mater (Class of 1983), in 2011 to reinstitute the Debate Program, he began work as a teacher of AP United States Government and Politics. Shortly thereafter, he worked with Dr. Joseph Murry and created the Brother James Mc Donnell, CSC Scholars Program. As a debate coach, Mr. Arthur has been a sought after teacher and lecturer working at summer programs teaching young people from the United States and several foreign countries held at American University, Baylor University, Northwestern University(IL), Harvard University, Stanford University, and the University of Iowa. He has been recognized by the University of Mississippi, the Barkley Forum of Emory University, and the Jesuit High School Forensics Hall of Fame. In 2014 Mr. Arthur was named the Louisiana High School Speech League Coach of the Year and in 2016 was inducted into the National Speech and Debate Association Hall of Fame. Prior to his return to teaching, Arthur practiced law at Kean Miller, LLP and also worked as the Communications Director at the Louisiana Department of Revenue. His prior teaching experience included Jesuit High School and The Stuart Hall School for Boys. He holds a BA in Political Science and a JD in Civil Law both from Loyola University of New Orleans.

Lauren Arvites


Mrs. Arvites joined the Holy Cross family in October of 2015. She already felt that she was part of the extended HC family through her husband, Coach Michael Arvites(class of 2004), and was excited to become immediate family. She is a New Orleans native that attended St. Mary's Dominican High School and stayed close to home continuing her education at Southeastern Louisiana University as well as University of New Orleans. She started out as Admissions Assistant and has returned to fill the position of Receptionist after her maternity leave. The Arvites family resides in Metairie along with their furry kid, a dog named Teddy, and their newborn son, Logan. Logan will be a future tiger in the class of 2035.

Social Studies Chair: Teaches - AP World History, AP European History, and U.S. History Honors. Assistant Basketball Coach and Yearbook

Mr. Arvites has been teaching at Holy Cross since 2009. At Holy Cross he has taught World Geography, World History (Honors and AP) U.S. History (honors and reg), European History, 20th Century History and Journalism. Prior to teaching at HC Mr. Arvites coached under Juan Lumas as a Middle School coach and Varsity assistant from 2006-2009. A 2004 graduate of Holy Cross, he was a member of Student Council, Chorus, the Journalism Club, Quiz Bowl, and a member of the basketball team in which he was selected captain during his senior season. He attended college at the University of New Orleans where he served as editor of the school’s newspaper for two years. While in college Mr. Arvites worked for the Times-Picayune as a sports writer. On June 6, 2016 he married his wife Lauren who also works at Holy Cross in the Admissions Department. Mr. Arvites Currently he teaches AP World History, AP European History, and U.S. History Honors.

Kevin Baer


This is Mr. Kevin Baer’s first year joining the Holy Cross family as an arts instructor. Mr. Baer was born and raised in Denver, Colorado to an architect father and sculptor mother. He attended college in California, earning his bachelor’s degree from Santa Clara University. Graduate study brought him to Louisiana where he achieved his Master of Fine Arts degree at the University of New Orleans. Mr. Baer has taught art to a wide range of students. He continues to create his own artwork in conjunction with fostering imagination and self-exploration with the young art students here at Holy Cross.

Michael Baiamonte

Mathematics Teacher, Defensive Line Coach and Head Track Coach

.Michael Baiamonte, Jr. is a Holy Cross alumnus. After graduating in 1993, Mike began coaching 8th grade football and baseball for his alma mater while attending Our Lady of Holy Cross College. After graduating from OLHCC with a Bachelors Degree in Secondary Mathematics Education, Mike was hired by Archbishop Shaw in 1997. Mike also served as a teacher and assistant coach at West Jefferson, Destrehan, and Hammond High before becoming a four-year head coach for Ponchatoula High School (2007-2010). Mike earned his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Southeastern University in 2009. Most recently, Mike has served as an Assistant Principal and Athletic Director from 2012-2015 at Hammond High Magnet where he also earned certifications for the International Baccalaureate Program. Mike is starting his second year at HC. He will serve as a mathematics teacher, defensive line coach, and Middle School Baseball Director. Mike's teaching experience consist of 16 years of teaching mathematics. He has taught 6th grade math at Loranger Middle School, Pre-Algebra and Algebra 1 at Archbishop Shaw, Algebra 2 honors at West Jefferson High School, Algebra 1 at Ponchatoula High School, and Algebra 1 Honors at Hammond High Magnet. His certification in the International Baccalaureate Program led him back to Holy Cross where he taught Algebra 1 Honors, Algebra 1 and Algebra 2. Mike has been Louisiana State Certified in the area of Mathematics since 1997. His 12 years in public education gave him the opportunity to become highly qualified in the area of mathematics.

English, Drama, Theatre Director

Maria Baisier is Chair of the Holy Cross Drama Department and she teaches Drama I, II, III, IV as well as English I Honors, and V Honors. Ms. Baisier received her BA in Theatre from Dominican College and her secondary certification in English at Tulane. She has been named twice to Who's Who Among America's Teachers (1996 and 2005), Who's Who in American Education, received the Octavia Levert Non-Fiction Writing Award, and was nominated to the USA Today All-Star Teacher team in 2006. In addition to teaching and directing theatre, Ms. Baisier is a published author of the book Pieces: Putting Life Back Together after Loss written under her pen name M.L. Davis. Three of her essays appear in the book Katrina: Mississippi Women Remember, and another appears in the book Southern Fried Farce. She is a member of Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society for Educators, Phi Beta International Honor Society for Actors, Loyola University Writing Workshop, and the Educational Theatre Association. Ms. Baisier is also the Troupe Director of Holy Cross School's International Thespian Society Troupe Number 7553.

Director of Studies, Middle School Principal

Mrs. Billings has been a member of the Holy Cross family for fifteen years, and enters her 29th year in education. She is a graduate of Cabrini High School who earned her B.S. in Mathematics Education from St. Mary's Dominican College and a Masters of Arts & Sciences Teaching from the University of New Orleans. She is a member of the School Leadership Center, the National Middle School Association, the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, Kappa Delta Pi and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. Mrs. Billings is the chair of the Holy Cross Institute Program Development Committee.

I have been a part of the Holy Cross family since 2013. I am the Librarian for grades Pre-K -- 12th. I earned a B.S. in Secondary Education with a focus in Biology, General Science, and Library Science from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. I am currently working on my Master of Library and Information Science degree at Louisiana State University.

Middle School Math

Cindy Bourque is in her 10th year teaching at Holy Cross School. This year she teaches 7th grade Pre-Algebra, Accelerated Pre-Algebra, 6th grade Accelerated Math, and has a 5/6/7th grade homeroom. She enjoys planning 7th grade field trips and activities. Mrs. Bourque is also Math Department Chair for Holy Cross School and proud advisor to the Cross & Anchor House. After attending Archbishop Chapelle High School, she earned a degree in education from the University of New Orleans with a concentration in math. Mrs. Bourque enjoys traveling with her family, especially cruising. She lives in Metairie with her husband and daughter, an LSU graduate. This past summer, Mrs. Bourque and Mrs. Willis attended the AMLE Conference in Orlando.

Tricia Bristow


Mrs. Bristow has been with Holy Cross for over 30 years. As of October 2013 she has moved from the Finance Office into the Registrar's Office. She is a resident of Metairie and a graduate of Riverdale High School. She has a son Berkley, who is in the class of 2013.

Craig Brodie, Jr.

Teacher/Head Track and Field Coach/Asst Football Coach

Coach Brodie is a native of New Iberia, LA. He joined the HC family in August of 2015 as a teacher and coach, respectively. Coach Brodie currently teaches the subjects of Psychology and United States History. This is Coach Brodie's 6th year of teaching as a profession. He is a 2010 Graduate of Central Methodist University in Fayette, Missouri with a BS in History.

In her eighth year at Holy Cross, Ms. Chabreck will serve as English department chair and will teach English IV Honors and English IV Advanced Placement. Before moving to the classroom in 2007, she worked for eight years as a private tutor, specializing in ACT preparation and Language Arts on the middle school, high school, and undergraduate levels. Ms. Chabreck attended Loyola University in New Orleans, where she double majored in English literature and music. She received her master’s degree in music from Louisiana State University.

High School American History, Civics, Senior Class Moderator

"Coach Charb" enters his 29th year at Holy Cross, and serves as Social Studies teacher, and Senior Moderator. He brings 44 years of teaching experience to Holy Cross and currently teaches Civics, American History Dual Enrollment, and Civics Honors. Mr. Charboneau is a native of Schenectady, New York, and attended Linton High School before earning his B.S. from the State University College at Oneonta, New York and his Masters in Education Administration from the University of New Orleans. In addition, he is a member of the Louisiana Athletic Trainers Association, and is a contibuting photographer to the HC website.

English II, English II Honors, & Freshmen Moderator

In her eighth year on the Holy Cross faculty, Mrs. Kelly Clark teaches English II and English II Honors, moderates Freshmen activities, and is the National Honor Society advisor. She is a graduate from Archbishop Hannan High’s class of 2000. Mrs. Clark holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master's degree in Arts of Teaching with a concentration in Secondary English from the University of New Orleans. Mrs. Clark has strong Holy Cross ties with her father (Gair Oldenburg ’76), husband (Timothy Clark ’99), brother (Erik Oldenburg ’06) and many other family members all being proud Holy Cross Alums. Mrs. Clark's son has also followed in his family's Tiger paw prints and attends Holy Cross Primary. Mrs. Kelly Clark & her husband, Timmy, a Staff Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, are proud parents to their daughter, Tayler Mae, and son, Easton.

Shawn Collick (504)942-1865

English III, English III-Honors, and English III-Honors Scholars

Mr. Collick is in his 18th year as a high school English teacher, his eighth at Holy Cross School. While living in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, he received his bachelor's degree from Northern Michigan University with a major in English and a minor in sociology. He then went back to school to pursue his teaching degree, which he received in Lake Charles, Louisiana from McNeese State University. Mr. Collick started his teaching career in Detroit at the school from which he graduated, and ultimately found his way here to New Orleans, the city he has called home for the last fifteen years. Moreover, Mr. Collick has his lifetime secondary English education teaching certification and has also received credentials for both AP English classes, Language and Composition from Millsaps College and Literature and Composition from Tulane University. Mr. Collick is also a card-carrying member of the National Council of Teachers of English, the NCTE. In addition to teaching English III, English III-H, and English III-H Scholars during the 2017-2018 school year, Mr. Collick will be driving one of the Holy Cross school buses, serving as sophomore class adviser, and teaching standardized test prep classes on the weekends.

Ms. Crayton enters her 26th year at Holy Cross as the Assistant to the Guidance Office. She has served in many other capacities over the years including Bookstore Manager and Accounts Payable. Dixie is the mother of two sons, Keith Gioe, Jr. & Dewey '96 and has two grandchildren, Chris Gioe '10 and Robyn Gioe.

Anthony Crim

Director of Campus Operations

Entering his third year at Holy Cross, Mr. Crim is responsible for all aspects of campus health, safety and building code compliance. He also oversees operation, maintenance and management of the campus physical plant, and, manages all school transportation services. Formerly facilities manager of an independent public charter school in New Orleans, Mr. Crim won the Sustainability Excellence in Schools Award bestowed during the 2014 and 2015 Greater New Orleans Chamber of Commerce Green Games. He also served on the RSD task force charged with crafting the school building lease agreement protocols between charter schools and the RSD. Prior to working in schools, his extensive project management experience included owning a home renovation company for five years after Katrina and serving as an advertising agency production manager for nearly a decade. Mr. Crim earned a B.S. in Sociology from Louisiana State University.


Katherine Davis

Middle School Band Director

This is Katherine's first year working at Holy Cross. She is originally from Chicago, but moved to New Orleans to escape the snowy winters. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Instrumental Music Education from Loyola University. While there, she studied flute and piccolo with Patti Adams of the LPO. Katherine teaches and conducts the 5th, 6th, and 7th grade bands.

Melissa V. Deokaran (504)609-3226

Latin Teacher, Archaeologist, Swim Coach

Melissa Deokaran began teaching Latin at Holy Cross in 2014. Ms. Deokaran, who is originally from Hammond, Louisiana, completed her undergraduate degree at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, VA. There, she was a double major in Classics and Religion, focusing specifically on religious practices in Ancient Greece and Rome. Afterwards, she received a Masters in Classics from Tulane University, where she gained her first classroom experience, teaching an introductory Latin course. In addition to being a teacher, Ms. Deokaran is also an archaeologist who spends the summers supervising the excavations in the Ancient Agora in Athens, Greece. There, she works with a team of American archaeologists and scholars who are uncovering the boundaries of the Ancient Athenian marketplace and city center. Throughout the school year, Ms. Deokaran is also heavily involved in coaching swimming, both for the Holy Cross Middle School team and a United States Swimming year-round team.

Dean of Men 8-12, Head Wrestling Coach

Mr. DesOrmeaux not only fills the difficult role of Dean of Men, but also must fill the rather large shoes of Wrestling Hall of Fame Inductee, Brother Melchior Polowy, as the Head Coach of the Tiger wrestling program. He has been in education for the past 14 years and enters his seven years as an integral part of the Holy Cross Administration. He is a graduate of Holy Cross School, where he received the Holy Cross Man Award, the Tiger Award, and the Catholic Leadership Award. Following his time at 4950 Dauphine, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education (Social Studies) from Louisiana State University and a Masters of Education from the University of New Orleans. Coach DesOrmeaux also enters his seventh year as the head coach of the famed Holy Cross wrestling program. Mr. DesOrmeaux was named Metro Wrestling Coach of the Year in 2009 as well as Louisiana Wrestling Coach of the Year 2009. He was recently named NWCA Wrestling Coach of the year for Louisiana after winning the 2013 State Division II State Championship.

Mr. Ducote is in his 6th year at Holy Cross and will be teaching Algebra 2, Geometry Honors, and Algebra 3. He is a New Orleans native and graduate of De La Salle High School who earned his B.S. in Mathematics Education from North Carolina State University. Mr. Ducote is a passionate Saints fan and enjoys world travel. This past summer, he married the love of his life and honeymooned in Jamaica. A licensed pilot and Realtor, Mr. Ducote is a man of many talents and interests.

I was born in Tampa, Florida in 1970. I spent my early years in Orlando, Florida surfing, skateboarding, and playing tennis among a variety of other sports. I began painting and drawing in high school while also pursuing an interest in the theater. After high school I attended NYU's Tisch School of the Arts for theater in the fall of 1988. After my first year, I decided to change my major from acting to painting and enrolled at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York. While at Skidmore I won a Liquitex Excellence in Art Grant and in my senior year I won the Jesse Solomon Award for painting. I graduated from Skidmore in 1994. In 1998, I moved to New Orleans, Louisiana where I now live with my wife Mignon and four boys; Everest 2.9.12, Gryphon 4, Sebastian 8, and Jackson 18. I spend a lot of my free time skateboarding, biking and playing with my boys. I am currently in my 2nd year as the 3D Art teacher at Holy Cross School. I taught 2D and 3D art at the old HC campus for 5 years up to hurricane Katrina. My personal art is mostly figurative sculpture, painting and drawing. I am currently working on a show for DuMois gallery to open in Oct – Nov. 2012. I also do portraits, murals and other artwork on commission. Director of Counseling and Guidance, 8th grade & Scholars Counselor

Karen joined the Holy Cross family in the spring of 2008 as an intern for her graduate counseling program, and began her career as a school counselor that fall. She attended the University of Arkansas (yes, she’s a Razorback!) and received her Master’s degree in Counseling from the University of Holy Cross. Karen is completing her Ph.D. for Counselor Education and Supervision and should graduate May, 2017. She has two children, Daniel (25), and Sarah (19). Karen and her family had lived all over the country before arriving in New Orleans almost 13 years ago. She enjoys traveling, art, music, reading, gardening, and needle work.

Mrs. Enterante, “Mrs. E,” has been part of the Holy Cross family since November 2011. She graduated from California State University, Northridge where she earned both her Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in general science and a Special Education teaching credential. Mrs. E teaches STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math) Design & Modeling and Automation & Robotics programs for 5th-7th grades. She is very excited to continue as the moderator for the HC Lacrosse Club. Mrs. E enjoys spending time with her husband Tony "Nino" Enterante (’86), daughter Ashley, two playful rescue dogs, and a bearded dragon, TC, that resides in her classroom.

Mr. Evison has been with Holy Cross since the 2013 school year. He previously taught at Shorecrest Preparatory School in St. Petersburg, Florida for 4 years where he was the Latin instructor, Latin Club sponsor, Latin Honors Society Sponsor, Varsity Girls Basketball Coach, and Boys and Girls Varsity Bowling Coach. Mr. Evison, originally from New Jersey, received his B.A. in Classical Studies from the University of Florida in 2007 and his M.A. in Classical Studies from Tulane University in 2009. At Holy Cross, he will be helping with the both the Basketball and Bowling programs.

Mr. Ferry is in his ninth year at Holy Cross High School where he is Director of Student Activities. He has also continued his role as a teacher for senior level classes. For the 2017-2018 school year, Mr. Ferry has taken on the responsibilities of Director of Audio/Visual, Co-Web Coordinator, and Moderator of the Work Study/Scholarship program. Mr. Ferry is a graduate of Brother Martin High School class of '90 and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and a minor in Management from the University of New Orleans class of '94. Mr. Ferry has fourteen years experience in education, as well as three years of experience in school leadership as a past Disciplinarian and member of the School Leadership team. During his spare time, Mr. Ferry enjoys spending time with his wife Heidi and children. Mr. Ferry is a native of New Orleans and an avid Saints fan.

Biology, Physical Science, Junior High Football, Middle School Baseball

Dr. Ford is in his sixth year since returning to Holy Cross, having also taught here during the 2007-08 school year. He is an alumnus of Archbishop Rummel High School and received a B.A. in Biology from Rhodes College, where he played football and baseball for the Lynx. Dr. Ford also has a M.S. in Biological Sciences from UNO and a Ph.D. in Biological Anthropology and Anatomy from Duke. For his dissertation research, he spent a year in Costa Rica studying howler monkeys. Dr. Ford has previously taught at Rummel, where he served as Science Department Chair and coached football and baseball. This year, he is teaching Physical Science and Biology I. He is also Director of 5th - 8th Grade Football, Head Coach of the Junior High Football Team, and an Assistant Coach for 5th and 6th Grade Baseball.

Spanish, Spanish Club Moderator, Bowling Coach

Entering her fifth year at Holy Cross, Mrs. Garrett will teach Spanish I, Spanish II, Spanish II Honors, and Spanish III, as well as serving as the Spanish Club Moderator and the head coach of the bowling program. Native to St. Bernard Parish, Mrs. Garrett, a 2009 graduate of Cabrini High School, holds a B.A. in Spanish Language (with a concentration in Secondary Education) as well as a minor in Child Development and Adolescent Psychology from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Mrs. Garrett holds strong ties to the Tiger Family with her husband (Jordan Garrett, '09) and brother (Stephen Oalmann, '13) having previously attended. Mrs. Garrett and her husband Jordan, a Louisiana State Trooper, reside in Chalmette and are the proud parents of a future Holy Cross Cheerleader, Norah Blake.

High School Physical Education Teacher / Head Powerlifting Coach / Varsity Football Coach

A graduate of Holy Cross in 2005, Mr. Giglio is entering his fifth year in education, and his eighth year coaching with the Tigers. He serves Holy Cross as a high school physical education teacher, defensive coordinator for the varsity football program, and as the head coach for the tigers powerlifting team. As a student of Holy Cross he was involved in Peer Ministry, Chorus, and named the captain of the varsity football team during his senior season. He is an alum of the University of New Orleans, where he earned his degree in 2011. Mr. Giglio is a resident of St. Bernard Parish, where he was raised by his proud parents, Tommy and Judy Giglio

Jennifer Gonzales, also known as Mrs. G, teaches English III American Literature and English IV British Literature. Though this is her tenth year on the Holy Cross faculty, she has been part of the Holy Cross Family for quite some time as her mother taught at Holy Cross for nearly twenty years at the old campus. While attending high school at Mt. Carmel Academy in New Orleans, Mrs. G was a majorette who twirled during the Holy Cross football and basketball halftime shows. She was also a Holy Cross Cheerleader from 2001-2003. She earned a B.A. in English (concentrating in Secondary Ed.) from Louisiana State University (Geaux Tigers!) and earned her Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of New Orleans. In 2011, Mrs. G wed a Holy Cross ’03 alum. They met while he played basketball for HC under Coach Lumas, and she was on the cheerleading team under Mrs. Lyons. Mr. and Mrs. G have one little Tiger, Trip c/o 2031; a future Tiger, Conner c/o 2033; and a future HC Cheerleader, McKenzie Renée.

5th/6th Religion; Middle School Quiz Bowl Moderator; Board Game Club Moderator

Mr. Hanemann is back for his 7th year of teaching at Holy Cross. During the Spring 2009 school year, he was a teacher assistant for 5th & 7th Grade Social Studies, and he also helped with Middle School Computer. He is a graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University where he majored in Middle School English and Middle School Social Studies. He also has a Basic Certification in Religion. He enjoys the Rivalry Game between Jesuit and Holy Cross; which school did he attend is a mystery. His membership as a member of the WhoDat Nation remains strong (no matter what the record). He doesn't mind talking about History (His favorite event to talk about is the Titanic). Finally, he is a member of three Honor Societies: Sigma Alpha Lambda, Sigma Alpha Pi, & the National Scholars Honor Society.

Head Baseball Coach / Middle School PE Teacher

Coach Hargis returns for his 3rd year as the middle school PE teacher and 2nd year as varsity Head Baseball Coach. He graduated from Holy Cross in 2006 and was a member of both the football and baseball teams. He received his bachelor's degree from Southeastern Louisiana University in May 2011, where he also played baseball for the Lions. Coach Hargis came back to Holy Cross for the 2014-2015 school year after spending the 2011-2012 and 2013-2014 school years at St. Thomas Aquinas (Hammond, LA), where he served as a PE/Health Teacher, as well as an assistant coach in football and baseball. He spent the 2012-2013 year as an assistant coach/camp coordinator at Southeastern University.

Economics & Business Teacher; Director of Soccer

Coach Hayers returns to Holy Cross for his second year as newly appointed Director of Soccer. He will act as Head Coach for both the High School, and Middle School programs. Stuart, a native of London, England, holds three degrees, a BS in Sports Coaching from the Welsh Institute of Sport, a BS in Business Administration, and a Masters in Business, both from Lynn University, FL. Following a professional soccer career in the UK Stuart came to the U.S on a soccer scholarship, and following a playing career that includes three All-America awards and a selection to the Great Britain World Games 2009 squad, turned to coaching. Stuart has coached in the NCAA as well as the United Soccer League and holds his UEFA 'B' licence. During his time in Louisiana he has guided several youth teams to state titles. Stuart is also the co-founder of S&B KINESIS, a sports performance and movement company that specialise in soccer specfic camps and clinics, personal training, as well as helping high school athletes gain scholarships to College, and College Student-Athletes enter the professional soccer ranks. His client list currently includes several players participating in professional soccer leagues around the world. Coach Hayers will be teaching high school Business & Economics this year as well as leading the soccer program.

Mrs. Hayers is the French teacher for French I through French IV AP, as well as French club moderator. Before joining the Holy Cross family in 2012, she worked in Paris, France for a language education company. She attended Ursuline Academy in New Orleans, and received her undergraduate degree in International Studies from the University of New Orleans. She received her Master’s degree in Foreign Languages, with a concentration in French language and second language acquisition, from George Mason University in 2010. When she isn't teaching, Madame Hayers enjoys cooking, traveling, reading, serving her community, and spending time with her husband and dogs.

She serves as the Boychoir Repertoire and Standards chair for the Louisiana chapter of the American Choral Directors' Association. Mrs. Hotard sings with the New Orleans Vocal Arts Chorale.

Mrs. Hrapmann begins her tenth year as Director of Curriuculm, Instruction and Professional Development at Holy Cross School. She received her B.A. in Secondary English Education and her Masters +30 with a Reading Specialist from Northwestern State University. Retired from the classroom after 34 years with most of those years being in Gifted Education, Mrs. Hrapmann was one of the first 43 teachers in Louisiana to achieve National Board Certification. She has presented at the district, state and national levels on subjects such as reading across the curriculum and project based learning. Mrs. Hrapmann was inducted into the Northwestern State Hall of Distinguished Educators and serves as a member of the Northwestern Alumni Board. She has two sons and is married to Coach Kenny Hrapmann '68. They live in the Gentilly area.

Mr. Illanne is a 1990 graduate of Holy Cross, and enters his second year back as a member of the Holy Cross staff. He served in a public relations and webmaster role as we moved from the original campus to our temporary site on Paris Avenue. His father, Charles F. Illanne, is a graduate of the class of 1955. He has owned a media business, Flambeaux Media, since 2004, and has worked in Catholic education as a Development Director, P.R. Director, Athletic Director, website manager, multi-media producer, teacher, and coach. In addition, he works on a contract basis for the New Orleans Saints Media Relations Department for all home football games.

A member of the class of 2000, Coach Jackson is in his ninth year as a theology teacher at Holy Cross School. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management at Dillard University in New Orleans. Along with teaching Senior Theology, Mr. Jackson also serves as the Director Campus Ministry. He will also head the HC Immersion Service Learning Program as well as the school’s Community Service Program. Coach Jackson enters his fifth year as a varsity assistant coach. He previously coached for four years in the Holy Cross junior high program. Mr. Jackson will coach the defensive tackles for the Tigers. While at Holy Cross, Coach was involved in a number of extracurricular activities. He played football, threw the shot put, sang in the school choir, and was member of the Senior Executive Board. Coach Jackson resides in Metairie with his wife Rachael and daughter Gianna. Mr. Jackson and his wife are expecting the birth of their second child in January. Coach is also a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. Mr. Jackson is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree, in Pastoral Leadership, at Notre Dame Seminary. He is also in formation to become a Lay Ecclesial Minister for the Archdiocese of New Orleans.

Dr. Jacobi is in her sixth year as a member of the Holy Cross English Department. She earned her Ph.D. in English from the University of Miami in 2009 after receiving both her M.A. and her B.A. in English from the University of Notre Dame (Go Irish!). Dr. Jacobi began her teaching career in 2005 at the University of Miami, where she designed and taught a variety of English composition and literature courses. She now teaches English V, English V Honors (Dual Enrollment), and Advanced Placement English Literature and Composition. Dr. Jacobi also moderates the school Literary Magazine and organizes HC's participation in the District and State Literary Rally. She is a native of Destrehan, Louisiana.

After receiving his B.A. from Louisiana State University, Mr. Johnston spent eight years in the hotel industry working for Marriott International. He then returned to school and earned his teaching certification from UNO. Mr. Johnston is an avid Tulane fan and can be found at all of the Green Wave’s athletic events. Coach Bruce has been at Holy Cross for 18 years, coaching baseball, basketball and football. He coached the St Bernard All Stars in both sports from 1980 to 2002 winning 4 World Series titles in 1983, 1984, 1996,and 2002, and 2 National Pre Prep Championships in 1982 and 1991. In 2009 Coach Bruce was presented the "Humanatarian Award" by the St Bernard Parish Hall of Fame for his coaching achievements over the years. He starts his 3nd year as Assistant A.D. and Baseball Cordinator for the 8th grade thru Varsity teams. He will also be the manager of the Spirit Shop.

A 2004 graduate of Holy Cross, Coach Kamlade is entering his eighth year coaching at Holy Cross. As a student at Holy Cross, Coach Kamlade was a three letterman in both football and baseball from 2002-2004. He played two years of baseball at Delgado and served as Graduate Assistant under Coach Joe Scheuermann before going to UNO. Now he has multiple roles at Holy Cross that include, his 6th year with the Varsity Football Program coaching the Offensive Line. His 2nd year with Varsity Baseball after six years as Head Coach Baseball of the 8th Grade Team. He's also the Head Coach of the JV Baseball team, as well as an Assistant Powerlifting Coach. As an alumnus of Holy Cross Dr. Kettenring brings a vast experience education and ministry to his alma mater. His areas of expertise include Scripture and evangelization. Ronnie Kornick starts his 10th year at Holy Cross as the Middle School Dean of Men and Varsity Baseball Assistant Coach. This is his 16th year overall in education. During his tenure at Holy Cross, he has served as Director of Student Activities and also was a proud assistant of the prestigious TCAC program. He is a graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University where he was a multiple baseball letter winner and was named team Captain his senior season in 1997. He served as an assistant baseball coach on the college level for four years at SLU and Laredo(TX) JC, as well as at his alma mater Archbishop Hannan High School for five years where he was also Athletic Director. A Holy Cross Graduate of 2006, Lance Lacoste takes on multiple roles here at Holy Cross as Physical Education Teacher, Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, Special Teams Coordinator, Defensive Backs Coach, and Assistant Powerlifting Coach. Teaching and Coaching is in his blood as has Mother is an award winning Elementary School Teacher and father a well-respected recreation football coach.As a student-athlete at Holy Cross, Lance carried a 3.7 GPA and was a 3-sport Letterman of football, basketball, and baseball. He received All-District and All-Metro Honors in football and baseball. In football, Lance also received All-State honors and was named to the Max Emfinger All-American Game. Lance was named the Holy Cross Athlete of the Year for the 2004-2005 school year. He then went on to receive a B.S. degree in Exercise Science from Northwestern State University. At Northwestern State, he was an honors student while also lettering in football and baseball. In 2008, Lance received All-Conference honors in football. In 2010, he was named a Demon Deacon to represent the Northwestern State Defense. After his senior year, Lance received the Kirk Strider Strength and Conditioning Award. Lance's greatest accomplishment came in July '14 when he married Jenny Matherne Lacoste, Public Relations Manager for the Al Copeland Corporation. After spending his first two years of coaching/teaching at Brother Martin, Lance Lacoste is extremely excited to be back home at Holy Cross.

Jenny Lacoste, also known by some as Mrs. Coach Lacoste, is the Director of Special Events for Holy Cross School. Although, she is new to the staff of Holy Cross, she has been part of the Holy Cross family for quite some time as her husband, Coach Lance Lacoste, is a graduate (’06) and current PE teacher and Football Coach. Jenny attended Nicholls State University where she majored in Public Relations and was Captain of the Cheerleading Squad as well as a member of Delta Zeta Sorority. She graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in Mass Communications. Prior to coming on board with Holy Cross, she was member of the New Orleans Saintsations (Professional Cheerleaders for the New Orleans Saints - ’07 & ’08) and was the Public Relations & Sales Manager for a local restaurant, hotel and food manufacturing company. Mr. and Mrs. Coach Lacoste reside in Chalmette with their future Holy Cross Cheerleader, Evie Merie.

Mrs. Lavender is entering her eighth year at Holy Cross. She is a graduate of Cabrini High School and she earned her BS in General Studies from UNO. Mrs. Lavender is married to a Holy Cross graduate and has two sons. Her oldest is attending the Primary School. Mr. Lindsey enters his eleventh year in education and his ninth at Holy Cross. His father was a member of the class of 1969. After graduating from Archbishop Rummel in 1996, Mr. Lindsey received a B.S. in pre-med biology from Loyola University of New Orleans. While attending Loyola, Mr. Lindsey played baseball. After Loyola, he was selected by the St. Louis Cardinals baseball organization in the 29th round of the 2000 draft as a pitcher. In 2012, he became a member of the Loyola Athletics Hall of Fame. His pleasures include the outdoors, photography, weightlifting and things that go really fast. He is currently teaching Biology I, Biology II, Biology II and Anatomy and Physiology. As the resident Smartboard guru, he keeps our Smart-related technology working smoothly.

Dr. Joseph H. Murry, Jr. has been the principal of Holy Cross School since 2004. He has spent a quarter century in education, earning Area II Principal of the Year (1997-98) of Orleans Public Schools as well as High School Principal of the Year for Orleans Parish (2001-02). Dr. Murry is a graduate of St. Aloysius High School, New Orleans, earned his B.A. from the University of Southwestern Louisiana (presently ULL), a Masters from Southeastern Louisiana University, and his PhD from the University of New Orleans. While attending USL, he was the Gulf States Conference Champion in the shot put and was the captain of the Ragin’ Cajun Track Team. He also competed as a member of the Weightlifting Team where, as the team’s captain, he set 4 national heavyweight records en route to a national championship. His other weightlifting accolades include: Champion 1968 (set 3 national records), AAU Sr. National Champion 1968 (set 2 national records); All-American Weightlifting Team 1968; YMCA National Champion 1972; 1972 Olympic Trials (3rd place Heavyweight). Dr. Murry was an assistant coach in football, Head Tennis and Soccer Coach, and the Athletic Director at Abramson High School, before being promoted to Principal of the New Orleans school. In addition, he served as an assistant coach at Metairie Park Country Day School and was the Strength Coach and Physical Coordinator for the Buffalo Bills of the National Football League.


Amy Nolan

Director of PR & Communications

Amy Nolan, APR, serves as Director of PR and Communications for Holy Cross School. She has more than 20 years of experience working in non-profits, Catholic education and corporate communications. Here at Holy Cross, Amy oversees all school communications, marketing and public relations and works to promote the mission and all of the good things happening in our school. Amy is a graduate of Vandebilt Catholic High School in Houma and the Manship School of Mass Communication at LSU, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication with a concentration in Advertising and Public Relations. In 2006, she earned her Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) designation. Amy and her husband Marty have two beautiful daughters and live in Belle Chasse.

Jodie is entering her 1st year as the Tuition & Accounts Receivable Clerk in the Finance Office. She attended Ursuline Academy & Southeastern Louisiana University. Before coming to Holy Cross, Jodie was an Early Childhood teacher at Ursuline Academy. She is married to Ryan Price and has two daughters, Abbey and Izzey.



Oliver Ranner

In his first year at Holy Cross, Professor Ranner currently teaches Latin I, Greek I, Theology 9 and Honors/Scholars World History. A native of Regensburg, Germany, Professor Ranner received his Abitur from the Domgymnasium of that city, where he was a member of the famed Regensburger Domspatzen Choir. He read for a Magister’s degree at the University of Tuebingen, Germany, with a triple major in Latin, Greek, and Philosophy. He is a member of St. Hugh's College, University of Oxford, England, where he completed his graduate studies in Greek Language and Literature, with a specialization in Plato's late dialogues, on which he has both presented and published numerous papers and continues to research. He has held lectureships in Classics and Philosophy at the University of Oxford and the University of Bristol in England, University College Cork in the Republic of Ireland and most recently at Loyola University of New Orleans. He is married to Lori Frey Ranner, who also teaches Classics and Theology at Holy Cross, and they have three children. In his spare time, Professor Ranner enjoys gardening, biking, hiking and playing the piano.

In her third year at Holy Cross, Mrs. Ranner currently teaches for the Scholars Program and the Theology Department. She is a New Orleans native. She is graduate of Dominican High School and NOCCA (Creative Writing). She received her BA from Loyola University New Orleans in Classics and History. She matriculated at the University of Oxford, England in 1996 (Keble) and her graduate degrees from that institution are in Byzantine Studies with a concentration in Church History. Prior to taking her present position at Holy Cross, she held the position of lecturer of History and Classics at her alma mater, Loyola, from 1999-2001 and from 2004-2014. Mrs. Ranner is married to Oliver Ranner, who also teaches at Holy Cross, and they have three children. Together they are co-moderators of the High School Quiz Bowl Team. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, cooking, and travel.

Coach Rebaudo is the Department Head of the Holy Cross Physical Education Department and is the Summer Camp Director. He has spent the past Nineteen years working in education, with the last fourteen years on the faculty of Holy Cross. Coach Rebaudo is a graduate of Archbishop Rummel High School, and he received his Accounting Degree from LSU. He is the Head Football Coach and the corners' coach for the Varsity Football Team. Prior to coming on board, Coach Rebaudo was an assistant football, J.V. basketball and head track coach at Ridgewood Prep (1997-2000), and assistant football and track coach at Archbishop Rummel (2000-2002).

A Holy Cross graduate of 2007, Michael Rivera is entering his fourth year teaching at his alma mater. He attended the University of Louisiana-Lafayette, where he graduated with a B.A. in Secondary Education, served as the president of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity, and worked on numerous student-life councils. Mr. Rivera teaches English I in the 8th Grade Center and is currently working on his M.Ed. in Educational Leadership at the University of Holy Cross, New Orleans. He is the former Metro Flag Football coach and a former assistant with the TCAC intramural program. As a student at Holy Cross, Mr. Rivera was part of the final graduating class from the 4950 Dauphine Street campus. He graduated with Honors, was a Peer Minister, and was involved with National Honors Society, Tiger Band, Track, and Cross Country.”

Katherine Garrison Schilling is a New Orleans native, where she attended Ursuline Academy and graduated in 2000 (Go Macs!). After graduating with a B.S. degree in Biology from MIT in Cambridge, MA, she taught Biology and Chemistry at Franklin High School in Franklin, MA, for 2 years. She returned to Louisiana in 2006 to attend graduate school at LSU and has since earned her PhD in Biological Sciences. Her microbiology research has been presented at national meetings in Boston and San Diego, and her work has been published in 5 different journals, with a 6th manuscript submitted for publication. Dr. Schilling is in her 6th year at Holy Cross and teaches Biology I, Biology I Honors, and AP Biology. She is the science department chair and the beach volleyball club moderator, and also manages the HC butterfly garden. She is married and has 2 children, one of whom attends the new HC Primary School. Go Tigers!

Julia Selby

Middle School Science, Cross Country Coach

Mrs. Selby is in her second year at Holy Cross where she teaches 6th grade Physical Science, 7th grade Life Science, and coaches the Middle School Cross Country Team. Mrs. Selby is a native of Baton Rouge, LA. She has a Bachelors of Liberal Arts degree and a Master's of Science Degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, both from Tulane University in New Orleans. Mrs. Selby completed her teaching certification with the State of Louisiana post-graduate school.

Mr. Simon is in his sixth year at Holy Cross. He is currently teaching Advanced Math/Trigonometry, Adv. Math/Trig Honors, and Honors Calculus. His B. S. in Mathematics-Education was earned at Southeastern Louisiana University. During his more than 25 years of teaching at Archbishop Chapelle High School, he had the privilege of teaching AP Calculus to his daughters Katie and Lesley, now both graduates of LSU. (Geaux Tigers!) He has been married for 41 years to Maggie, also a teacher, now retired. She has become, along with her husband, a loyal Holy Cross Tiger supporter. Benjamin Sines

Coach Sines has been with Holy Cross since 2015, and brings with him degrees from Loyola University New Orleans (B.A. English Writing) and the University of New Orleans (Master of Fine Arts, Poetry), and seven years of teaching and coaching experience. As a UNO graduate assistant he taught freshman composition and worked with the production and development of the Tennessee Williams/New Orleans Literary Festival. His essays and poems have been published by Columbia and Loyola Universities. A product of the legendary Coach George Gibson and the Houston High School cross country and track legacy, Coach Sines is a two-time Tennessee State Champion and former NCAA competitor in cross country and track and field.

Development Assistant

Mrs. Sixkiller has been with Holy Cross for over 34 years and currently serves as the Administrative Assistant to Monica Gele, Director of Development. She is a graduate of Francis T. Nicholls High School and Spencer Business College. Mrs. Sixkiller has two sons who graduated from HC - Donald '88 and Darren '93. She has three granddaughers and a grandson, James, who is in the Class of 2018. Her nephew, Jamie, graduated in 1990. Her sister Susie is the Administrative Assisistant to Mrs. Billings, Principal of the Middle School.

Middle School Counselor

This is Stephanie's 4th year at Holy Cross. She was formerly our 8th, 9th and 10th grade counselor, but is now happy to be working with middle school students. Before coming to Holy Cross, Stephanie worked for a local non-profit, Boys Hope Girls Hope of Greater New Orleans. Stephanie earned her master's degree in Counselor Education from UNO while working with the Academy of Sacred Heart. She currently resides uptown with her husband, Matt, and three year old twins, Luke and Cecilia. During her valuable but limited free time, Stephanie enjoys spending time with family and friends. She is truly excited about working with the Middle School and looks forward to a great school year!

World Geography Teacher, TCAC, 8th Grade Basketball

Mr. Toepfer is entering his fourth year teaching World Geography here at Holy Cross. Upon graduating from Brother Martin in 2007, Mr. Toepfer attended the University of Louisiana-Lafayette, where he graduated with a B.A. in Secondary Education. This year he will be assisting with the basketball program as well as the 5th/6th grade Metro flag football team.

High School Mathematics and Engineering, Head Swim Coach, Head Robotics Coach

A graduate of New Site High School (New Site, MS) Coach Turner earned a degree in Biological Engineering from Mississippi State University (#HailState) before moving to New Orleans. Coach Turner began teaching/coaching at Holy Cross in 2006 and currently teaches Algebra II (H), Advanced Mathematics and Trigonometry, Dual Enrollment Computer-Aided Engineering Design, Dual Enrollment Computer Programming with Robotics Lab, AP Physics, and AP Computer Science. Coach Turner is the Head Swimming Coach and has lead the team to two state championships and five state runner-up finishes. Coach Turner is also the head coach of the robotics program competing in VEX and VEXIQ. Coach Turner is married to Laura Turner and has three children, Ethan, Luc, and Evangeline.

Tiger Band Director

Mr. Urbaszewski is in his thirteenth year at Holy Cross and his 17th year of teaching. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education and a Master’s degree in clarinet performance from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois. He was in the Marine Corps Band from 1969-1973 and the United States Navy Band from 1984-2004. He has been married to Beth since 1981 and they have two daughters, Catherine and Madeleine.

5th & 6th English Language Arts, 5th & 6th Grade Moderator, Varsity Cheerleading Coach

Miss Watson enters her eleventh year at Holy Cross School as a 5th and 6th grade English Language Arts Teacher and Varsity Cheerleading Coach. She also serves as the 5th and 6th grade moderator. She is a graduate of Loyola University New Orleans where she was a member of the dance team and was named Captain her junior and senior years. In her free time, Miss Watson teaches dance classes at a local studio. A native of New Orleans, Miss Watson is an alumna of Mount Carmel Academy. She is the proud Tiger daughter of Dick Watson (’66) and sister of Rick Watson (’92) and Dr. Kevin Watson (’94).

9th and 12th Grade Counselor

Dr. Wegmann joined the Holy Cross Family in the Fall of 2008. After serving five years as Middle School Counselor, he moved to working with the High School students in addition to teaching Psychology Honors. A life-long resident of New Orleans, Dr. Wegmann attended high school at an institution on Carrollton and Banks (which shall remain nameless) before completing his undergraduate degree in Psychology from Spring Hill College followed by his Master’s Degree in Counseling from Loyola New Orleans. He recently completed his PhD at the University of New Orleans focusing on the role of Philosophy in Counselor Education. In his free time Matt enjoys traveling, live music, unorthodox conversations, and his undying allegiance to the Who Dat Nation.

High School Mathematics, Chemistry

Mr. Westfall brings more than 10 years of education experience to Holy Cross School as a chemistry and geometry teacher. A 1992 graduate of Holy Cross School, he went on to graduate from Louisiana State University with a bachelor of science in Conservation Biology. Mr. Westfall is currently furthering his education by pursuing a masters of science degree from the University of New Orleans.

9th Grade Physical Science Teacher, Sports Medicine Teacher, Director of Sports Medicine, and Asst. Baseball Coach

A 2006 graduate from Holy Cross, Coach White is entering his 7th year of teaching at his alma mater. He will be teaching 9th grade Physical Science as well as Sports Medicine. In addition, he is also an Assistant Coach on the Varsity Baseball team. Coach White graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University with a Bachelor's Degree of Science in Athletic Training, where he was also a member of the Lions baseball team. His brother Jordan graduated from Holy Cross in 2010. Coach White resides in Gretna with his wife (Kristine), son (Rory), and their dog (Belle).

Mrs. Willis is starting her 10th year teaching, and this will be her fifth year at Holy Cross. Mrs. Willis teaches 5th and 6th grade math and she also assists in coordinating the middle school intramural program, Tiger Cub Athletic Club. She is a graduate of St. Mary's Dominican High School and earned her BS in elementary education from The University of Southern Mississippi. Mrs. Willis is married to Garret Willis, an alumnae of Holy Cross and they have two children, Graham and Hallie. Graham attends Holy Cross Primary School. She enjoys participating in and coaching sports and she enjoys working with the faculty, staff and students of Holy Cross.
