Members of the Holy Cross Tigers Cross Country team attended the Gulf State Distance Running Camp, held at St. Joseph’s Abbey in Covington. For five days, the Tigers ran twice daily and were treated to lectures and discussions hosted by camp counselors on topics ranging from the importance of building team dynamics to proper nutrition and race strategies. Interestingly enough, whenever the topic of “team chemistry” was brought up, Holy Cross was mentioned and recognized by the entire camp – counselors and campers all – as a prime example of a team who has forged an unbreakable bond of friendship, a competitive spirit, and a tradition of strange quirks. In the words of one camper, “I don’t know what it is – they’re all pretty weird guys – but it works.”
The Tigers are fit, focused, and hungry for a season of competition. Good luck to our Cross Country team in the season ahead!
