Letter from Headmaster Sean Martin Regarding School Closure 8/11/17

August 10, 2017

Dear Holy Cross Family,

First and foremost, I hope this email finds you and your family safe. As a parent and your new Headmaster, I share in the disappointment felt by students, parents, faculty, and staff surrounding the closure of school today. This morning, the Mayor of New Orleans and the Archdiocese informed Holy Cross School of the potential threat of flooding just before 7:00 a.m. at which time the decision was made to close school. The safety of our young men is and always will be at the forefront of our decision-making process. I apologize for the inconvenience experienced by families due to this situation.

Unfortunately, after communicating with city and parish officials, the Governor has issued a State of Emergency and Orleans schools will be closed tomorrow, as conditions are expected to be the same. With that said, Holy Cross School will follow the Archdiocese protocol, and school will be closed tomorrow, Friday, August 11th.

Below is our adjusted schedule for next week:

Earlier this afternoon, each parent and student should have received an email with instructions regarding our communication systems. Please take a few minutes to work through those instructions and feel free to contact any school administrator if issues arise. We will continue to use School Messenger, along with school-generated emails, Facebook, and our school website, in order to distribute news and alerts to everyone as quickly as possible. For your convenience, we also send press releases to each of the local news affiliates in times of school closure.

I thank you all for your patience and understanding as we deal with these issues. We are all eager to start the school year, so we can get to the business of educating your young men.

We Are HC!

Crux Spes Unica,

Sean P. Martin
