Tiger Cheerleading

The Holy Cross Cheerleading team is expanding its program to better provide support to our athletic teams and to have the opportunity to earn more national titles for HC. The team has been divided by skill level to make up a separate JV cheerleading team and a separate Varsity cheerleading team. Both teams will cheer at football and basketball games, as well as compete!

Thank you to ALL of the candidates who attended our 2012-2013 Tryout Clinic on Wednesday and returned to the First Cut Tryout on Friday! We were thrilled with the turnout and saw plenty of great cheer talent!

If your number is listed above, you will need to attend the Second Choreography Clinic tomorrow, Saturday, March 24th, from 9-Noon in the HC gym.  The Final Round of Tryouts will be held at the gym on Sunday, March 25th, beginning at 10:00 am.

Game Time Fight Song

The Holy Cross Cheerleaders traveled to Dallas, TX this past weekend to compete in the NCA Nationals Cheerleading Competition. They worked incredibly hard to represent Holy Cross well as this was their VERY first time to Nationals!
The team placed in the top 12 out of 33 teams for Game Time Fight Song and finished 3rd in the Advanced Large Co-ed Division earning a specialty award of Superior Showmanship!
This is the first athletic team to represent Holy Cross as a nationally ranked team! GO TIGERS!!!

This past weekend, the Holy Cross Cheerleaders traveled to Lake Charles to compete in the LHSAA State competition. The team competed as a small co-ed varsity team against other schools such as Rummel, Vandebilt Catholic, Slidell, Zachary, and Shaw. This contest was Holy Cross’ stiffest competition yet and would determine who received a bid to Nationals in January.
With one cheerleader out with a concussion and fever and another with a bad injury from competition warm-ups (minutes before performance time), the team quickly re-worked their entire routine in the Civic Center’s parking lot so they would be able to still compete and do their best. The Tigers proved to everyone that no matter what comes their way, they will battle and fight to the finish as the team performed a near flawless routine and placed 2nd overall. Archbishop Shaw placed 1st and Zachary High School placed 3rd. Congratulations to the HC Cheerleading team as they also received a bid to Nationals in Dallas, TX this January! Go Tigers!

When: Saturday, October 29th 3-5 pm (Registration begins at 2:30)

Friday, November 4^{th –} 6:30 pm – Junior cheerleaders will perform on the sideline during the first half of the Homecoming game vs. East Jefferson at Tad Gormley Stadium.

For:     All 5th – 8th grade girls

(Girls in 4th grade that are currently on a cheerleading squad may be eligible to participate, please e-mail)

Attire: White t-shirt, blue or black shorts, white tennis shoes

Cost:    $35 early registration thru October 28th (includes clinic, t-shirt, and game ticket)

              $40 late registration (t-shirt size not guaranteed)

To register, please fill out the attached waiver and include your child’s t-shirt size.

The HC Cheerleaders are selling Christmas wreaths again this year!  This holiday fundraiser aids the team’s expenses for the NCA nationals in Dallas, TX! You have the option of three very festive wreaths to choose from to purchase for your front door, and an HC cheerleader will deliver it to you personally (payment upon delivery). Thank you for your support and enjoy your holiday decorations! Go Tigers!

The Holy Cross Cheerleading team traveled to Millsaps College during Memorial Day weekend to participate in the 4 day NCA Camp.  Not only did the team learn a great deal, but they took home quite a few honors.  The Tigers placed Top Team of Camp in the performance category, received certificates for being safe as well as impressive jumps, received 23 nominations for the NCA All-American Cheerleading Squad, as well as received 3 nominations to tryout for NCA Instructor.  The squad had an amazing camp experience, and they cannot wait to show off everything they’ve learned for Holy Cross!

The following Tigers were among the 23 nominated for NCA All-American Cheerleading and made the squad:

Alexis Dupuy, Michael Stiegler, Peyton Dupuy, Krissy LaBrosse, Michelle Leger, Hayley Meyers, and Maddie Borello.

The Following Tigers were asked to apply to become an NCA Instructor (quite an honor).  It is very difficult to be nominated for this position and Holy Cross had THREE tigers nominated!

A big congratulations goes out to TWO of our Tiger Cheerleading alumni – Matthew Zada and Rachel Bourgeois – who were chosen as Ragin’ Cajun Cheerleaders for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette this weekend.  Matt will be cheering on the co-ed squad, while Rachel will be cheering on the all-girl squad.  Only 10 guys and 10 girls were chosen for the co-ed team, and 16 girls of 40 were chosen for the all-girl team.

Congratulations to Matt and Rachel!  Your HC family is so proud of you!  Go Tigers (and, just this once, Go Cajuns!)
