HC Alum Bradley Brunet ('08) Honored at Loyola
posted by Sue Ellen Lyons on 05/23/2013

The Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) announced their year-end awards at the conference meetings this week. Women’s basketball’s Jasmine Brewer and baseball’s Bradley Brunet were named Institutional Honor Student Athletes of the Year for Loyola University New Orleans.

Bradley Brunet, a senior catcher and pitcher for the Loyola Wolfpack baseball team, batted a career best .289 this season while contributing eight doubles to the Wolf Pack attack. He had 16 RBI’s and a .377 slugging percentage to go with a .331 on base percentage. He also pitched 6.1 innings out of the bullpen in his first season on the mound. A four year starter, Brunet captained the baseball team for three seasons.

Brunet graduated this spring with a bachelor’s of business administration in management. He was also a member of the Dean’s List and a Loyola Scholar Athlete every year from 2010-2013. He also was a member of the Athletic and Wellness Student Leadership Council since 2011.

Brunet was part of the contingent of Loyola baseball players who travled to Belize for 10 days over Christmas break to serve as teachers and coaches for the children of San Jose. In addition to teaching basketball skills, he assisted the children with English and Math studies, and helped with arts and crafts. Brunet also volunteered with Wolves on the Prowl where he supervised field days with children participating in athletic activities. He also spent time volunteering for Super Bowl XLVII in New Orleans by assisting guests at the NFL Experience.

Congratulations, Brad! Your HC Family is very proud of you!

Holy Cross Exam Exemption Policy
posted by Jerry Arnone on 05/10/2013

Holy Cross has implemented a policy to reward students in grades 8 through 12 who have an A average for each semester, fall and spring. The students who accomplish this will be exempt from their final exam. The grade that determines exemption for the spring semester is the average on May 6th for 8th and 12th grades—one week prior to the beginning of exams and May 13th for 9th through 11th grades. If an eligible student chooses not to take his final exam, his numerical average for the spring semester will be the average recorded and used to determine the final average for the class. Parents will receive notification via email or letter informing them if their son is exempt in a class. Being absent from a final exam due to exemption will not be counted as an absence on a student’s record.
