Attention 8th - 12th grade students, there are still Homecoming pictures in the Student Activities Office. please stop by and pick them up.

Attention all students... this Thursday, December 1st, there will be a fundraiser for the band at Lazer Tag in Metairie from 4pm - 9pm. Come out and support the band while having a great time! Lazer tag is located at 8855 Veterans Blvd.

Attention students. Remember the deadline to have all Christmas decoration up for our annual Christmas Door Decorating Contest is this Friday. The more elaborate your decorations are the better. This year there will be a "Student Pick" winner as well as a selection made by the Administration. The top room will receive a pizza party. The top office will receive a catered lunch served by Student Council. There will also be prizes for 2nd and 3rd place winners.... so let the best room when.

Attention students... on Tuesday will be holding a special schedule to help celebrate the holiday season. We will be having a Christmas pageant in the afternoon with performances by the band, chorus, drama department, and art department. To help bring some festivities to the day, Tuesday will be Ugly Christmas Sweater day. Everyone will be allowed to wear a Christmas themed sweater over the regulation uniform shirt on Tuesday. Homeroom teachers are asked to take a count of how many students in their homeroom wore a Christmas sweater and the homeroom with the most sweaters will win a candy party. So find a Christmas sweater and wear it on Tuesday.

Auditions will be held for the musical Damn Yankees next Wednesday and Thursday in the Watson Theatre from 2:30 to 5:00. Auditions are open to all who are interested!

If you are interested in trying out for the 2017-2018 varsity football team, tryouts will be held Saturday morning December 3rd at 8am, Tryouts are open to all Juniors, Sophomores, Freshman, and 8th graders. The time is from 8am - 9:30am. You should meet in the weight room and bring a t-shirt, shorts, tennis shoes and bring cleats.

Attention All Students in grades 8 through 11 interested in trying out for the 2017-18 varsity football team:

Tryouts will be held on Saturday, December 3rd at 8 am. The tryouts should conclude by 9:30 am. Bring a t-shirt, shorts and cleats. Please do not wear cleats in the building.

Attention all 8th, 9th and 10th grade classes, next semester there will be a Winter Formal/Mardi Grass themed Ball for you. This will be a semi-formal dance and will be your version of the junior and senior prom. Again, this will be for all 8th-10th graders. More information will come out next month.

Attention all homerooms, it is time for the Christmas door/window decorating contest. Like last year, we are asking everyone to decorate their classroom doors and windows for the holidays. Last year the competition was fierce between Mrs. Clark and Mrs. Gonzales and Coach Arvites. However, Dr. Schilling always has spectacular displays as well. Who will win? We will have to wait and find out. All doors and windows and windows should be decorated by the Friday Dec. 3rd. Winning room gets a pizza party for the entire class.

Attention all Juniors and Seniors, Balfour will be on campus Friday during lunch to take ring orders for the juniors and any senior who did not turn in or order graduation supplies. See Mr. Ferry for more information.

Attention all 8th through 12th grade students. Career Day sign-ups have begun. Please watch your email for instructions.

Attention 7th graders your sleepover will be next Friday November 11th. See Mr. Bourque or Mr. Ferry for details. The sleepover will be a night of games and activities as well as a midnight movie with your senior brothers. Dinner and breakfast will be served. The 6th grade sleepover will take place early next semester.

Attention homerooms, we will be holding our annual Christmas Door Decorating Contest right after the Thanksgiving break. The winning room gets a pizza party and some other fun treats. All decorations should be completed right after the Thanksgiving break. Come up with a theme and be creative!!!!!!!!!

Attention Juniors... On Tuesday Nov. 8th Balfour will be here to present the senior ring presentation. Juniors WILL NOT go to their activity period but instead report to the Café for the presentation.


Attention students who attended Homecoming, please check your coats to make sure you brought home the correct one. We have had numerous parents call stating their son has the wrong jacket. Again please check and if you have the wrong one, bring it to the student activities office.

It's time to make your reservations to see Alice in Wonderland! Go to the home page, scroll down to the bottom left and click on theatre reservations.

Please remember to support our food drive for pets and people as you enjoy your three-day weekend. Bring your donations on Tuesday and all next week to the middle school office. Your generosity is greatly appreciated by needy families and homeless cats and dogs.

Congratulations to the Junior High Football Team on its 12-0 victory over St. Aug. The defense, which dominated the game, was led by Aiden Patcheco, Gavin Schulz, and Ian Silva. Jaden Handy and Jalen Johnson scored rushing touchdowns for the Tigers. The team finished the season with a 7-1-1 record. Great job, Tigers!

On Friday 11/4, Tiger Cross Country will compete in the Region 3-5A championships at the City Park course. Varsity boys will race at 4:45; we are a Holy Cross Family, please come out and support your cross country team!

There will be a meeting for freshman planning to try out for the freshmen baseball team on Wednesday, Nov. 9th. The meeting will take place during lunch at 12:45pm in the gym. Any freshman planning on trying out must attend the meeting.

Tiger Cross Country will compete in the Region 3-5A championship meet today. If you want to attend, follow the stench of shattered dreams, the trail of raw hides thick with woe glistening in the dying sun like golden coins from the purse of some forgotten titan. Or you can go to the corner of Diagonal Drive and Harrison Avenue in City Park and find the navy blue HC tent - both paths will lead you to the prophets of rage. Boys race at 4:45. Go Tigers!

Attention Middle School Quiz Bowl Members: Activity Period and 8th Graders:

Reminder--there will be a meeting today after school from 3:15 to 3:55. This meeting will be brief as it will cover some trivia as well as participation in an upcoming tournament in December. Please attend this meeting if you can.

The Diversity Club will meet for lunch today in Mr. Baer's art room.

Our annual food drive sponsored by Peer Ministry and BASS, the middle school service society, begins today. This year we are collecting food items for both PETS and PEOPLE. Your generous donations will benefit our local church food pantries and Second Harvest Food Bank. The pet food and supplies will benefit Animal Rescue of New Orleans (ARNO) and Villalobos Rescue Center of "Pit Bulls and Parolees" fame.
Morning curbside collection will begin on Tues., Nov. 8.

Attention 6th Graders:

Your retreat will be tomorrow... You will report to your third period class after middle school lunch tomorrow for attendance... After attendance is taken you will be dismissed to the high school oaks for the retreat. You will stay in your school uniform for the retreat.

Congratulations to the 5th/6th grade Metro flag football team for their 20-6 semi-final win over Trinity. The offense was led by outstanding play from Rhett Centanni, Andrew Garvey, Ross Klein, and Jackson Jeansonne. The defense was able to shut down the Trinity offense thanks to great performances from rushers Taz Smith and Tyler Robichaux, while Jared Jones and Noah Rapps each added an interception. The Tigers will play for the league Championship this Thursday. Good luck guys!

Tiger Cross Country aka which way to the pool aka pass the gravy aka the prophets of rage finished 2nd in the Catholic League District Championships, a mere 17 points behind Brother Martin. To see the Tigers run is to know the fear they strike in the hearts of their prey. Holy Cross placed three runners in the top 10, with Blake Baldassaro finishing 3rd, Cade Martin in 9th, and Adam Sequeira in 10th. Rounding out the scoring five were Trent Terminie and Dominic Lincoln. Next up for the Tigers is the Region 3-5A championships at City Park. The Tigers will continue to stalk their prey – tigers are, after all, apex predators, and they never fail to make their strike. Also, Cross Country Pictures are on Tuesday 11/1 – see Coach Sines for your paperwork. Go Tigers!

Congratulations to the 5th/6th metro flag football team for their 20-0 win over Holy Name. The team was led offensively by Rhett Centanni and Jackson Jeansonne, while Taz Smith, Jared Jones, and Andre Amede led the tiger defense in route of their shutout win. The Tigers will begin there playoff run on Tuesday against Trinity. Best of luck!

Congratulations to the newly elected officers of the National Junior Honor Society. President is Stafford Agee, Vice President is Matthew Huth, Secretary is Carson Doll. Treasurer is Miles Metze. Historian is Maximilien Caffery. Congratulations again gentlemen.

Hola Amigos! The Spanish Club will host our Day of the Dead afterschool meeting on Friday, October 28 from 2:30pm-3:30pm. All available members should help with the altar setup.

This Friday - Pay a dollar and wear an HC spirit shirt. All proceeds will go to St. Amant High School's music department, which was decimated by the recent Baton Rouge floods.

High School Soccer tryouts will be this coming Thursday, October 27th. ALL 9th graders through 12th graders must attend in order to be considered for the soccer team. It will take place on the middle school field from 2:30pm-4:30pm. Bring soccer apparel, shin guards and a ball. Any questions, please contact Coach Stu.

Tiger Cross Country aka which way to the pool aka pass the gravy aka the prophets of rage finished 2nd in the Catholic League District Championships yesterday, a mere 17 points behind Brother Martin. To see the Tigers run is to know the fear they strike in the hearts of their prey; yesterday, there was no doubt who were the predators at City Park, who was the hunter, and who was the hunted. Holy Cross placed three runners in the top 10, with Blake Baldassaro finishing 3rd, Cade Martin in 9th, and Adam Sequeira in 10th. Attention all National JUNIOR Honor Society members, please meet Mrs. Lavender in the courtyard during Homeroom on Monday, October 24th for a group photo. Also, please check in with your homeroom teacher before coming to the courtyard. Please be prompt!

Today's Family Day ticket total is $21,360.00 which means we only need $6,640.00 to meet the goal and get the holiday! Please get out and sell those tickets! The deadline for ticket sales is Wednesday, October 26.


Tiger Cross Country will compete in the District 95A Catholic League Championship next Tuesday, October 25th – 4:00 pm at the City Park course. You can find the course at the intersection of Harrison Avenue and Diagonal Drive in City Park. Congratulations to the Junior High Football Team on its 13-7 victory over Jesuit. Offensively, Jaden Handy had a rushing touchdown, and Jalen Johnson scored on a 50-yard pass from John Wooton. On defense, the Tigers forced 4 turnovers, including a fumble recovery by Aiden Patcheco and interceptions by Gavin Schulz, Kolbe Cage, and Ian Silva.

The Holy Cross family congratulates Miss Emma Evelyn Remetich for being named Holy Cross' 2016 Homecoming Queen. Miss Remetich was escorted by her father Jim Remetich. She is the daughter of Rebecca and Jim Remetich. Emma is a senior at Ursuline Academy where she is a member of the track team, National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Peer Ministry, Ursuline Fitness Club and is a Student Ambassador. In her spare time, Emma enjoys working out, service, and supporting her brothers at many Holy Cross athletic events. Emma was nominated by senior Marcel Szabo. Congratulations Miss Emma Remetich.

The Student Activities Office would like to thank everyone that attended the Homecoming Dance. It was one of the biggest crowds we ever had for the Homecoming Dance. Next up is the annual Pajama Jam during the second semester.

This is a reminder tomorrow will be Blue day for the Activity Period. Students should report to their session 1 club. Again tomorrow is session 1 for the Activity Period. Also, tomorrow there will be a meeting for the Lip Dub video HC will be doing next semester. Anyone who signed up for the Lip Dub video, should report to the meeting. The meeting will be held in M107. Again Lib Dub will meet tomorrow during the Activity Period in M107.

Congratulations to the beach volleyball team for their victory over Jesuit last week. The team of Tristan Brigalia & Donovan Carraby put up a strong showing during their first game, while the teams of Nathan Roberts & Will Pizzuto, Noah Pizzuto & Kirk Delacroix each won their matches to give the team the overall win. Go Tigers!

The countdown begins! Family Day is exactly 12 days away and we are just $8,500 short of our goal! Everyone wants a holiday so do your part and sell your tickets! If you've sold $50 in tickets you are eligible for a free Family Day tshirt which can be worn this Friday! If you need more tickets, visit the Alumni/Development. The deadline for the holiday, is Wednesday, October 26, 2016.

Attention 8th-12th grade students Homecoming is this week. The dance is this Saturday from 8-11pm at the Pontchartrain Center in Kenner. The dress code is semi-formal. See Mr. Ferry for questions. Tickets are on sale in the Student Activities Office for $40 per couple or $25 for an individual. Also, this Friday we will have a pep rally for the big game against Brother Martin. \ The Homecoming Court will be presented at the halftime festivities of the game. the game is at Zephyr Stadium. Also, Homecoming shirts are on sale in the Spirit Shop. There is a limited amount so make sure you buy your shirt soon.

Attention all National Junior Honor Society members: Your merchandise order form and money, and if you want to run for office form is due to Mrs. Susie or Mrs. Lavender by this Friday, October 14th. No late orders or running for office forms will be accepted.

Tiger Boos are for sale with Miss Watson or in any of the offices for $1 each. They will be delivered on Halloween. Last day to purchase is October 28th. See Ms. Watson for details.

Congratulations to the Patriots for capturing the TCAC championship by narrowly defeating the Rams 34 to 33. The Patriots led 20 to 19 at half and maintained the one point lead at the end. Thanks to all of the students who participated in another successful season.

Tickets are on sale in the Student Activities Office for $40 per couple or $25 for an individual. This Friday we will have a pep rally for the big game against Brother Martin. There is a limited amount of shirts so make sure you come out and buy your shirt.

Congratulations to the swimming tigers on their impressive swims last night as they took down Destrehan and De La Salle. Special congratulations to freshmen Nick Somme and Lucus McDuffie and senior captain Johnny Scheuermann on swimming their first state qualifying times of the season, which guarantees them a spot at the state swim meet next month.

In TCAC semifinal action yesterday, the Patriots broke open a 6-6 tie at halftime and went on to defeat the Dolphins 33 to 12. In the second semifinal contest, the Rams outscored the Raiders in the second half for a 33 to 22 win. The Patriots will meet the Rams for the championship today at 2:45pm.

Attention 8th-12th grade students Homecoming is this week. The dance is Saturday from 8-11pm at the Pontchartrain Center in Kenner. Dress code is semi-formal. See Mr. Ferry for questions. Tickets are on sale in the Student Activities Office for $40 per couple or $25 for an individual. Also, this Friday we will have a pep rally for the big game against Brother Martin. The Homecoming Court will be presented at the halftime festivities of the game. The game is at Zephyr Stadium. Also, Homecoming shirts are going on sale on Wednesday. There is a limited amount of shirts coming in so make sure you come out and buy your shirt.

Attention seniors... Balfour will be on campus for the graduation supply presentation tomorrow during the Activity Period. Report to the Cafe' and do not go to your club session tomorrow. SENIORS - AGAIN REPORT TO THE CAFE' for the Activity Period. If you have ring issues, see them tomorrow.

Attention all soccer players in 5th 6th 7th and 8th grade. Soccer tryouts for the middle school teams will be held this Thursday, October 13th, on the middle school field from 2:30-4pm. EVERYONE must attend tryouts if they wish to be considered for one of the soccer teams. Again that's ALL 5/6/7/8 graders.

Tiger Cross Country continues to chase the top teams in the state. This past Saturday in Baton Rouge, Holy Cross placed 7th in the Junior High division at the Catholic High School Invitational; 4 members of the 8 man squad were in middle school, competing with bravery against much older athletes; top finishers for junior high were Josh Raiford, Tharon Blancard, Leyton Liuzza, Lyric Lee, and Cruz Perez. In the varsity race, Holy Cross placed 4th, with top runner Blake Baldassaro finishing 3rd overall in a race with over 350 athletes. Other scoring members of the varsity team were Cade Martin, Adam Sequeira, Trent Terminie, and Chris Wagner. Tiger cross country, aka TBH, aka the prophets of rage, is out for glory. Go Tigers!

Fr. Jonathan is out of town this week so we will not have a mass tomorrow morning in the chapel. Mass will resume next Tuesday.


TCAC playoff games begin today with the Panthers taking on the Dolphins at 2:45.Tomorrow,the Patriots will play the winner of that game followed by the Rams vs. the Raiders.

The Holy Cross Lacrosse Club will be hosting an information meeting on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 from 6:00-8:00pm in the Huddle. The Lacrosse Club is open to all 5th – 12th grade Holy Cross students. This meeting is open to all new and existing players and their parents. We will discuss practices, schedules, uniforms, equipment and Coach Mikey will be there to answer questions. The first practice will be on Monday, October 31, 2016 at Lakeshore Playground from 3-5 pm. Anyone unable to attend the meeting can contact the Lacrosse Club moderator, Mrs. Enterante, via email: denterante@holycrosstigers.com and she will forward your contact information to a board member.

The dance will be held at the Pontchartrain Center in Kenner on Saturday, October 15, 2016 from 8pm -11pm. This is a semi-formal dance, coats and ties for the guys and dresses for the girls.
