Attention all 8th-10th grade students...Mount Carmel Academy is holding their Sophomore and Freshman Dance on Saturday,September 20, 2014 from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM. The attire for the dance is dressy casual and jeans in good condition are permitted. No hats/visor, no t-shirts, no costumes, and no shorts will be allowed. Admission is $8.00 at the door and boys must present their Catholic High School ID. The dance will be held in the Duplets Gymnasium on Milne Boulevard at Walker Street and parking on the neutral ground is prohibited. Students will not be allowed to enter the dance after 7:30 PM and will not be allowed to leave until 9:30 PM. All students must pass a breathalyzer test to enter the dance.

Attention all students.... this week is our big game against our rivals the Chalmette Owls. We will have our fist pep rally of the year tomorrow. Come out and show your support as the Tigers look to hunt down the Owls.

Attention anyone nominating their date for the 2014 Homecoming Court, all forms are due this Friday no exceptions.

Attention seniors... your ring dance pictures and mass pictures are in. You may pick them up in the student activities office.

Do you like to argue? Do you want to travel around the state and country? Then join the middle school debate team! The next meeting is Thursday, 9/18 in Mr. Williams' room, M-208 from 2:35 PM-4:00 PM. See Mr. Williams for details.

Students, if you would like to be a Tiger Ambassador for the 2014-15 school year, please stop by the Admissions Office to sign up! Tiger Ambassadors are responsible for showing prospective students and families around during Tiger Tours and Open House. All students are eligible to sign up! Again, please stop by the Admissions Office located in the Administration Building to sign up.

Teachers please send your family day tickets & money to the library before 10:00am today. Tomorrow during announcements we will announce what homeroom has turned in the most ticket money. Only one homeroom last year had 100% participation. This year we can do better than that.

Your Cross Country team competed last weekend at the Mount Carmel invitational in City park.
Everet Planchet led the middle school team finishing 8th.
The junior high team took 1st place with the following finishes:

In TCAC games yesterday, the Titans picked up their first win of the season with a 33 to 19 win over the Falcons. In the second game, the Colts remained undefeated at 2 and 0 defeating the Panthers 39 to 12. Games continue next Monday, September 22nd with the Ravens taking on the Broncos at 2:45 followed by the Browns and Panthers at 3:30.

Interested in finding out more about Mississippi State University? An admissions representative will be visiting campus on Monday, September 22nd from 12:25 to 1:00 pm in the Student Center Atrium.

This year the 5th-7th graders have all been assigned a "HC House" for Test Prep. The 5 houses are - Victory Bell, Cross & Anchor, Thunder, Grotto and Gazebo. The Test Prep Winner this week is the Cross & Anchor House.

Attention potential Board Game Club Members:

the meetings have been moved to Fridays from 3:20PM to 4:00PM in room M105. The first meeting is this Friday & games will range from checkers to UNO. There may also be a few card games too.

Attention all work study and scholarship workers who signed up for the butterfly garden installation, please be here for 8am on Saturday morning and wear cool clothing. You will be working outside and bring sunscreen if possible.

Attention all students.... your IDs are good for the HC football game tonight against Sulphur. Again, all students will be let in to the game for free with their IDs.

Attention Juniors and Seniors:

The Campus Ministry Department is looking for a few good men to represent Holy Cross at the annual Archdiocese of New Orleans Youth Pilgrimage to the March for Life in Washington, D.C. We had several students attend the pilgrimage last year and it was life changing for them. The dates for the trip are: January 19-24. The trip is considered an excused absence from school. We will have a brief meeting in the Student Activities Office next Wednesday September 17 at 12:40pm during high school lunch for those who are interested in participating.

Attention Metro Football team, this is a reminder that we will have practice after school today from 2:30pm - 3:15pm. Wear your PE uniforms and make sure to leave ALL bags in your lockers.

The Metro Football team starts their season Monday, September 15, 2014, when they take on division foe Holy Name of Jesus. The game has been moved to 5 PM at the St. Mary Magdalen campus in Metairie. Again Metro Football Game 1 has been moved to 5 PM at St. Mary Magdalen.

Failure to submit the permission slip AND money will result in the student not going on the field trip. Please see Mrs. Clark or Coach White if you need another permission form.

The Holy Cross Swimming Tigers plunged into the new season last night as they took on their Gentily rivals, Brother Martin. During the course of the meet, the tigers captured 10 out of 11 first place finishes to help secure a 110.5 to 57.5 victory. Swimmers qualifying for state were 8th graders Antonio Rivera and Lane Coleman, freshman Cole Smith, juniors Greg Parker, Josh Reimonenq, Joaquim Mitchell, Paxton DeForest, Pedro Rivera, Casey Nee, and seniors Reece Reinbolt, Nino Catalanotto, Lance Relle, Nick Galle.

Hola amigos! The Spanish Club will meet this Thursday, September 11, 2014 in the Student Activities room from 2:30pm-3:45pm. We hope to see you there!

In TCAC action yesterday, the Broncos won their opening game narrowly defeating the 49'ers 27 to 24. Games will continue next Wednesday, September 17, 2014 with the Falcons taking on the Titans followed by the Panthers and Colts.

Reminder! A representative from Loyola University New Orleans will be visiting campus today during lunch from 12:25pm to 1:00pm. The visit will take place in the Student Center Atrium outside of the Huddle. All students are welcome to attend!

In TCAC games yesterday, the Colts, leading by 2 at half pulled away in the second half to defeat the Titans 27 to 18. In the second game, The Seahawks upended the Ravens 40 to 19. Today's games are the Broncos vs. 49'ers at 2:45pm followed by the 1 and 0 Browns and the 1 and 0 Seahawks at 3:30.

The junior high team had an impressive win over Catholic League rivals, Brother Martin and Jesuit. The team placed four runners in the top 10. Chris Wagner and Teo Monthey led the team, placing 1st and 2nd, and were closely followed by Cade Martin in 5th, and Matthew Bonner in 10th. Josh Crawford, Colin Doody, and Evan Bozes rounded off the promising squad.

The Varsity squad was led by a determined group of underclassmen. Sophomore Blake Desselle, and freshman Blake Baldassaro led the Tigers, placing 9th and 10th. Freshman Adam Sequeira, and sophomore Dominic Lincoln closely followed, with Senior Michael Lopiparo finishing off the team score.


Hola amigos! The Spanish Club will meet this Thursday, September 11 inn the Student Activities room from 2:30pm-3:45pm. We hope to see you there!

In TCAC games yesterday, the Browns shut out the 49'ers 30 to 0 and the Falcons beat the Panthers 28 to 12. Games today are the Colts vs. the Titans at 2:25pm followed by the Ravens and Seahawks at 3:10pm. Players are reminded to put their book bags in their lockers before coming to the middle school field and not to wear their cleats in the building.

If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, then come to room M105 today after school from 3:20pm to 4:00pm for the introduction of the Board Games Club. The club is opened to 5th & 6th Grade.

This club will have many games, including card games such as UNO or Magic the Gathering. It'll even have Checkers!

Attention all students 16 years or older and all faculty and staff, our first blood drive of the year will be next week for the Oschner Foundation. The drive will take place September 8th. Student Council will be around to take sign ups.

Attention current Juniors IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT... anyone current Junior looking to run for Junior class president and vice president should pick up a form from Mr. Ferry this week. Elections will take place next Monday. All forms will have to be turned in by Friday no exceptions.

Attention juniors and seniors... anyone who did not pick up a packet from Balfour may pick one up in the student activities office.

Its Time... that's right it is time for the Back To School Dance. The dance is THIS SATURDAY! All 5th-7th grade boys and girls are invited to the Middle School dance from 5-8pm. The high school dance is for all 8th-12th grade HC students and girls from the area catholic-all girl schools. Time is from 8:30pm-11:30pm. Cost of the dance is only $10 at the door. For the high school dance it will be a Glow In the Dark dance so come dressed out on your neon clothes, wear glow sticks, bracelets, or whatever you want to light up the dance floor. there will be inflatables, mechanical bull, human gerbil balls, Velcro walls, photo booth, and much more. Snacks and drinks available for purchase. If the LSU game or Tulane game sis broadcasted, it will be on the TVs in the Huddle.

Attention All Students: who signed up for the bowling team, please check your email for some important reminders from Coach Ducote.

Congratulations to the Junior High Football Team on its 32-7 victory over Rummel. Chandler Fields led the offense with touchdown passes to Chase Rouzano and Alondre Wells, and Celven Hulbert added two touchdowns on the ground. Defensively the Tigers forced four turnovers, including a pick six by Chase Rouzano on the last play of the first half. Great job, Tigers!

Anyone interested in joining the Robotics Team needs to email and come by H102 to notify Mr. Turner. Kick off is this Saturday at SUNO.

The Holy Cross beach volleyball team will hold its first practice on Monday, September 8, from 4-6 at White Sands Beach Volleyball Complex in Metairie. Any 8th-12th grader interested in playing this season MUST come to this practice and bring your league fees and shirt payment. Email Dr. Schilling if you have any questions.

For the high school dance it will be a Glow In the Dark dance so come dressed out on your neon clothes, wear glow sticks, bracelets, or whatever you want to light up the dance floor. there will be inflatables, mechanical bull, human gerbil balls, Velcro walls, photo booth, and much more. Snacks and drinks available for purchase. If the LSU game or Tulane game is broadcast, it will be on the TVs in the Huddle.

Students who recently received an academic monogram will be measured for their letterman jacket or sweater on Sept. 18th.

Each student earning the HC monogram for High Honors is eligible to purchase a jacket (grades 9-12) or sweater (grades 7-8). The student must present his monogram or High Honors award certificate at the time he is measured.

At this time, varsity athletic captains will also be measured for their white jackets. The athlete's coach must have notified Coach Wilson & Ms. Lyons of his captain status. No other varsity lettermen will be measured on this date.

Letterman Jacket Measurement Day - Sept. 18th

The Recognition Company will come to the HC campus several times a year to measure students for letterman jackets and sweaters. The next measurement date is SEPTEMBER 18th.

We will hold a fire drill today at the beginning of D Block. The time will be approximately 9:45AM. The High School and Administration Building should evacuate to the Paris Avenue neutral ground/median. Middle School should evacuate to the middle school field. Classes taking place in the student center should evacuate to either Crescent Street or Prentiss Avenue, depending on your location in the Student Center. Faculty has been asked to print out the evacuation maps and post in the back of their classroom.
Please remember to...
• A. Convey a sense of seriousness and a concern.
• B. Remain Quiet
• C. Safety and good order is as important as SPEED.
• D. Form a line to the EXIT and proceed to the outside as designated.
• E. Teachers are to assign students who are to lead the class outside.
• F. Teachers are the last to leave the classroom, lock the door and bring the class roll.
• G. Attendance is taken immediately. In a real emergency there would be a clear need to account for all students .
