Attention all students... it is that time... PAJAMA JAM TIME. The annual Pajama jam is the biggest dance of the year and it is coming up in a few short weeks. The dance will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2016. The middle school dance is from 6-8pm and is open to all 5th-7th graders, even boys that are not from Holy Cross so bring all of your friends. The high school dance is from 8:30pm-11:30pm and is open to all girls and only Holy Cross students. The cost is $10 at the door ad as always there will be a photo booth, games and activities, and more.

Attention all students... the annual senior Mardi Gras parade is tomorrow at 1:50pm. Therefore, we will be on an afternoon assembly schedule. The parade route will take place along the circular bus driveway next to the student parking lot. Parents are invited to attend.

Brass band has been cancelled today. Sorry for the inconvenience.

There will be NO SHUTTLE BUS on today OR tomorrow.

Time to mark your calendars. Auditions for Center Stage's spring production of Our Town will take place on Wednesday and Thursday, Feb. 17 and 18. 2:30 to 5:00. Don't miss it!

Attention ALL powerlifters: There will be a mandatory meeting for all lifters Tuesday, February 2 immediately after school. The meeting will take place in the weight room with coach Gig to discuss the HC inter-squad meet, and announce the 2016 regional team. ALL LIFTERS MUST BE IN ATTENDANCE!


Congratulations to the Holy Cross Varsity Tiger Bowling Team on their 23-4 Victory over St. Aug. Shout outs to Junior Remy Mengel, Freshmen Bryan Arena and Carter Holmes, and Sophomore Captain Trevan Burns for beating their opponents 3-0. Extra congrats to Remy Mengel with a 197 game, Junior Evan Andrews and Senior Tyler Kalb who bowled well over their averages all three games for victories. This win puts the Tigers in 2nd place! Come support your Tiger Bowlers at their next match in Kenner, Monday, February 15 against Shaw.

OK now...make your reservation to come see Center Stage's production of The Odd Couple. The cast includes a member of the faculty so don't miss this fun. The play is Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7:30 and Sunday at 2 PM.

This Friday your very own Paris Avenue has had the pleasure and honor of being asked to open up Family Gras. Family Gras is the biggest music festival in Jefferson Parish. Family Gras is a FREE music event starting Friday through Sunday with national award winning artist and bands such as such as The Band Perry, Rodney Atkins, People's Choice award winner Fifth Harmony, Dr. John, and much more. Paris Avenue is made up of all Holy Cross Men. Senior Drake Ferry on guitar, Joseph Imbraguglio Class of '15 lead vocals and guitar, Ray Boudreaux Class of '14 on drums, and Bryce Scherer Class of '14 on bass.

Attention powerlifters who are competing this weekend at STA:
There will be a brief meeting immediately after school this Friday in the weight room with Coach Gig.


Congratulations to the 7th and 8th grade basketball team for their 39-27 victory over St. Aug last night. Miles Metze and Tyler Grubbs led an outstanding team defensive effort, as the Tigers picked up their 4th straight win.

Congratulations to the Holy Cross Varsity Bowling Team on their 16 to 11 victory over St. Thomas Aquinas yesterday. Special shout out to Junior Captain Josh Alleman with a 199 game putting the Tigers more than 100 pins over! Come out and support your Bowling Tigers at their next match on Monday, February 1 against St. Aug.

Freshman Baseball Try Outs will be held this Saturday, Jan. 30th for 3pm. Students trying out should wear a baseball hat, baseball pants, and cleats. Again, Freshman Baseball try outs will be this Saturday, Jan 30th for 3pm.

Attention Seniors, Juniors, and Sophomore Students:

The Jefferson Convention & Visitors Bureau are looking for a few good men to volunteer this weekend at the annual Family Gras Event in Metairie. There are few different shifts for you to choose from. This is a great event for you to earn service hours. Please check your email for additional details.


Congratulations to team Italy for capturing the TCAC soccer title with a 5 to 2 victory over Brazil. Eli LaFrance led the winners with two goals followed by Paul Gomila, Leyton Liuzza, and Dante Miraldo with one each. For Brazil, Bryce Gauthier and Owen Ericksen had one goal each.

The Diversity Club will meet today during lunch in Mr. DuMouchel's room!

Attention 8th-12th graders: There will be an informational meeting about District Literary Rally on Tuesday, January 26, immediately after school in room MS 205. If you have been nominated, you should have been notified by one of your teachers and will have received an email from Dr. Jacobi. All nominated students should attend the brief meeting on Tuesday. The meeting will last about 15 minutes. If you cannot attend, please email Dr. Jacobi.

Attention all students... this week is finally WOOSH Week. Every day their will be a game but on by the student council during the middle and high school lunch periods. Student Council will come around during the lunch periods looking for volunteers. Also, there will be a pep rally on Friday to cap of WOOSH Week. As you know, WOOSH Week is our annual basketball homecoming week to honor, celebrate, and support our basketball team.

Middle School Students who are interested in forming a Glee Club, please report to the Chorus room for a meeting at the beginning of lunch today.

Thank you to everyone who came out on Saturday for the annual Winter Formal. The student council appreciates your participation. The next big dance will be in February for our annual Pajama Jam.

Attention All students:

We will have our first Tigers for Christ meeting today after school. The meeting will be in Coach Mahler’s Classroom H105 and will start at 2:40pm.

Tigers for Christ is designed for having an avenue to build upon our faith community here at school. We are excited about getting this club started and we are looking for students who are interested in becoming involved. If you have any questions please see Coach Jackson or Coach Mahler.

Middle School Quiz Bowl Members:

This is a reminder that there will be a MANDATORY meeting today after school from 3:15 to 4:05. The teams need to be made for the Brother Martin Quiz Bowl Tournament and the Mount Carmel Tournament.

TCAC soccer playoffs begin today with Spain taking on Brazil at 2:45pm. Tomorrow, Argentina will open with the Spain-Brazil winner at 2:25pm followed by Germany and Italy at 3:10pm.

Tickets are on sale in the Activities Office for $25 per couple or $15 for an individual. See Mr. Ferry for details. This dance will kick off WOOSH Week which is our basketball homecoming week.

Shout Outs to Sophomore Zachary Handlin who won 3 for 3, and Sophomore Trevan Burns who bowled his personal best of a 217. Come out and support your Tiger Bowlers at our next match against St. Thomas Aquinas at All Star Lanes in Kenner for 3:35.

Tonight is Decades Night for our big basketball game against Rummel here at HC. What is a Decades Night? Well, tonight is an The Alumni Networking Social where alums for different years will come out before the game and have a social with current students. The event takes place in the Huddle. Afterwards, the alums and current students join the fan base to support the basketball team towards a win. The Rummel game is also a senior show out. Show up for 6:15pm in the Student Center.

In TCAC soccer yesterday, Argentina claimed the number one seed by shutting out Germany 6 to 0. Cross Mitchell had two goals while Tyler Robichaux, Jake D' Agostino, Nick Eaton, and Andrew Martinez each had one. In the second match, Spain and Brazil played to a two-all tie. Scoring goals were Ethan Ward and Josh Brien for Spain and Brandon Payton and Luke Ashley for Brazil. Playoffs begin on Monday with Spain taking on Brazil at 2:45.

The Diversity Club will meet for lunch today in Mr. DuMouchel's room.

A representative from Nicholls State University located in Thibodaux, Louisiana will be on campus today during the high school lunch. The visit will take place in the Atrium of the Student Activity Center outside of the Huddle. Students interested in learning more about the university are encouraged to attend.

Josh Brien and Ethan ward scored for Spain. In the second match, Germany remained undefeated edging Italy 2 to 1. Brandon Nelson and Derrick Scott had one goal each for Germany, while Ryan Borrows scored for Italy. The last regular season games are today with Germany facing Argentina for the number one seed followed by Spain and Brazil.

The Diversity Club will meet for lunch on Friday this week in Mr. DuMouchel's room.

The dance is in only 2 weeks on January 23rd from 8-11pm at the Sheraton Galleria. This is the last semi-formal dance of the year so come out for our basketball WOOSH Week celebration and celebrate our basketball homecoming.

Our Box tops contest is going on now until February 24. Please bring in your box tops to either Mrs. Susie in the Middle School or Mrs. Jill in the High School. The winning homerooms both middle and high will win a donut party.

These games opens up the Lacrosse season for Holy Cross. The competitions will take place at Falcon Field in City Park, which is Christian Brothers home field. Come out and support your middle school Tigers as they look to improve upon their success and open up their season with a win. Times are 9 am and 12 pm!

All Chorus students planning to participate in Solo and Ensemble Festival must check in with Mrs. Hotard (either in person or via email) before leaving campus today.

Attention 8th-12th graders... if you want to nominate you and your girlfriend for the 2016 Sweetheart Court, stop by the student activities office. The king and queen will be introduced at the dance. Also, next week is WOOSH Week starting on Wednesday and continuing through Tuesday of the following weeks. WOOSH Week is our homecoming week for the basketball team.There will be games during the lunch periods as well as a pep rally on Friday of next week for our game against Rummel.

Derrick Scott, Bryce Davis, and Charles Sauerwin had goals for Germany. Brazil was lead by Brandon Payton and Bryce Gauthier with one goal each.Tomorrow's schedule is Brazil vs. Argentina at 2:25 followed by Italy and Spain at 3:10.

Attention 8th - 12th grade students... the second annual Winter Formal Sweetheart dance is coming up on January 23rd at the Sheraton galleria. This is the last semi-formal dance of the year so come out for a night of dancing and good times. Cost of the dance is only $25 per couple or $15 individual. See Mr. Ferry in the Student Activities Office for tickets. Tickets will go on sale this Wednesday.

Attention all student: the Pajama Jam will take place after Mardi Gras on February 20th.

Attention powerlifters:
Pass by the weight room at some point to see if you were chosen to compete at the Pope John Paul Meet for next Saturday, January 16 If you have any questions, please contact Coach Gig.


OK!!! Holy Cross Center Stage will hold a meeting on Monday in the Watson Theatre at 2:30. All are invited to attend. The meeting will last until 3:15pm.

TCAC soccer today is Argentina vs. Italy at 2:45pm followed by Germany and Brazil at 3:30pm

I am sorry to inform you that due to the inclement weather today, lacrosse practice has been cancelled.

Congratulations to the 8th grade basketball team for their win against John Curtis yesterday. The team was led by an outstanding team defense, holding the Patriots to 3 first half points. The offense was led by Michael Crossley and Tyler Kirkwood.

Congratulations to the volleyball team for its 2nd place finish at the 2nd Annual Exam Slam tournament at Chapelle. The team of Evan Cory, Greg Parker, Nathan Roberts, Kirk Delacroix, Will Pizzuto & Noah Pizzuto came up short in the championship game, but put up a good fight. Go Tigers!

Mrs. Garrett's D Period Spanish II Honors class come by Mrs. Garrett's room today or at lunch to pick up your last test for your exam review.

Attention 8th-12th graders... Holy Cross will host its annual Winter Formal Dance Januray 23rd at the Sheraton Galleria in Metairie. This is a semi-formal dance just like the Homecoming Dance to celebrate Valentine's Day, the basketball team's WOOSH Week, and the winter season. It is never too early to make plans. Cost of the dance is only $25 a couple. If you had fun at Homecoming then you will have fun here. Lets kick off the second semester in style. See Mr. Ferry for more information. Tickets will go on sale after the break.

Attention all 8th-12th graders.. PLEASE PICK UP YOUR PICTURES FROM HOMECOMING. Mr. Ferry is receiving lots of calls from parents looking for their pictures. They have been in for three weeks.

Attention work study students... please check the work study blog for lots of jobs that are available and help is greatly needed.

Attention 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade football players:
Any players who still have equipment must turn in their equipment to Coach Ford after the second exam on Monday.

Calling all bowlers! If you would like to tryout for the Varsity bowling team and did not participate in bowling this semester, then you need to talk to Coach Ducote or Coach Garrett by the end of the week.
