Attention all Students:
Today, Friday, April 17 is a dress down day to raise a few more dollars for our Pennies for Patients program. With a donation of $2.00 you will be able to wear a Holy Cross Shirt and tennis shoes. You are still required to wear your uniform pants. Please turn in your money to your homeroom teacher on Friday.

There are 2 Iphones in the high school office lost and found. There also is a pair of black eye glasses. Please stop by and claim if they are yours!

Attention High School Students: The service hour deadline is vastly approaching... There's a great opportunity for you to get some last minute hours this Saturday. The edgewood park neighborhood association will have their annual neighborhood cleanup in Gentilly this Saturday April 11 from 8:30am-12:00pm... Please check your email for additional information.

Board Game Club Members: We will meet tomorrow from 3:20 to 4:15 (note the extended time) in room M105. The main game will be UNO followed by a small game of Scrabble.

Members, spread the word, as the club will allow new members at the beginning of the next school year.

Attention juniors and seniors who ordered tuxedos... the tuxedos will be here at lunch. If you have your payment, please pick them up. For those who did not bring their payment, the tuxedos can be picked up at the store's location by Lakeside Mall. See Mr. Ferry if you have questions.

Seniors... if you are still in need of a tuxedo, you can also get fitted today at lunch. You do not need money to get fitted.

Hola Amigos! The Spanish Club will meet this Thursday, March 26, in A300 from 2:30 to 3:30.

A representative from Saint Louis University will be on campus today during the high school lunch in the Student Center Atrium. Saint Louis University is a Jesuit college located in Missouri. Students interested in learning more about the college and its majors are encouraged to attend.

There was a house key found in M206. Come to the middle school office to claim.

Attention all juniors and seniors... the tuxedo fitting will take place Tuesday during the lunch period in the Atrium of the student center. Juts show up if you are interested in purchasing a tuxedo for prom instead of renting one. The cost is the same so save your parents money. No money is required to get fitted. You will pay when the tuxedos arrive for pick up.

The entire Holy Cross family would like to take a minute and remember former Holy Cross Head Football Coach Don Rowan who passed away this morning. He was the head coach for the 1975 and 1976 football seasons. Please remember Coach Rowan and his family in your prayers.


The awards ceremony for the winter sports of Basketball, Wrestling, Soccer and Powerlifting will be held Thursday, March 26th from 9-10:30 am in the HC Student Center. Honorees will be lettermen, squadmen and special awards. All parents and family members are invited to attend.

The Recognition Company will be on campus that afternoon, Thursday, March 26th, beginning at 2:00 pm in the Student Center to measure those eligible to order a letterman jacket. Student athletes must present their letterman certificate to place an order and payment must be made at that time.

Congratulations to the Varsity Bowling Team for a great season! The Tigers took down the St. Thomas Aquinas Falcons in Round 1 of the playoffs with an incredible 26 to 1 Victory. High Scores for this set were Colin Smith with a 215 and 210, Dorian Green with a 212, Beau Assavedo with a 205, and Nino Catalonotto with a 195. Tigers beat the Falcons by an overwhelming 855 Pins, moving on to Round 2 of the Playoffs against Rummel.
The Tigers fell short to the Raiders. High Scores for this set were Cameron Snider with a 217, Nino Catalotto with a 201, Dorian Green with a 202, Colin Smith with a 212, Deaton Harris with a 206, and Beau Assavedo with a 229! While the Team does not advance any further in the State Playoffs, both Beau Assavedo and Colin Smith advance in the Individual Competition and will be bowling for State Titles in Baton Rouge Tuesday, March 31. Congratulations to you both and Great Job, Tigers!

Hola Amigos! The Spanish Club will meet this Thursday, March 26, in A300 from 2:30 to 3:30.

Penn State, a public research university located in Pennsylvania will be on campus today during the high school lunch. Penn State is a Division I school part of the Big 10 Conference. Students interested in learning more about this college are encouraged to meet with the admissions representative during her visit which will take place in the Student Center Atrium.



Letterman Jacket Fitting - Date Change!

The scheduled letterman jacket fitting for this Thursday has been postponed until June 11th. It will be held from 8am-12 noon in the HC Student Center. Packets for ordering will be available before the end of the school year, and a pdf file of the packet will be emailed to parents at that time.

Reminder! The Archdiocese College Fair will take place tonight from 6 to 8 pm at the Pontchartrain Center located in Kenner. The college fair will feature both local and national colleges and universities. Students who attend can also enter raffles for a chance to win prizes including free ACT prep, an i-Pad and scholarships.

Attention high school students competing in District Literary Rally: There will be a brief meeting on Wednesday, March 18, after school from 2:30pm-2:45pm in M 205. You will receive information on Rally as well as your admission ticket, which you will need to bring with you to Rally this Saturday. Please check your email for a message from Dr. Jacobi regarding the meeting.

Congratulations to the tennis team for securing the District Title win for the 4th year in a row. The boys played some tough matches against Ben Franklin but stayed the course to come out on top 4 matches to 3. Come out and see the team play Jesuit on Thursday and Brother Martin on Friday. Both matches are at UNO at 4pm.

Congratulations to the varsity golf team on their victory over Brother Martin Tuesday at Lakewood Golf Club. The Tigers won the match 158-165, which earned them their 3rd consecutive victory over the Crusaders this year. The Tigers were led by senior Nick Tamplain, who shot a 1 under par, 35, his best round as a member of the golf team. sophomore Peter Hansen shot a 1 over par, 37, followed by sophomore Derek Bowens, who shot a 41 and senior Marloes Booker, who shot a 45. The Tigers will take on Jesuit at Lakewood on Monday.

Attention all students:

We have begun preparation for our annual St. Joseph Altar. We are looking for a few student volunteers to help set up each day after school. If you are interested please stop by the library and give us a hand. Please see Coach Jackson for additional info.

This is the final week for our Pennies for Patients program. We still have time to raise even more and surpass our goal. Together we CAN make a difference in the lives of those battling cancer. Ask your parents, friends, and family if they'd like to contribute to your homeroom's collection. Let’s make a final push to get some extra money in for the program. Don’t forget this Friday, March 20 is the last day to bring in money into your homeroom. Coach Jackson would like to thank all of you for your efforts and hard work. Remember the grade level that raises the most money will be treated to lunch in the cafeteria.

Come one, Come All, The annual Upper Level Student Art Exhibit is upon us. This Wednesday, March 18th from 3 to 6 pm at the Peristyle in City Park. The Peristyle is across from City Park next to the playground. Hope to see many of you there.

Attention High School Students:

St. Philip Neri Catholic Church is having their annual CRAWFISH COOKOFF on March 21. They are in need of student volunteers to help monitor Inflatables and help Serve drinks . All volunteers will be able to eat free crawfish and will be provided drinks during their breaks.

Attention 8th through 12th graders... the annual Slam N Jam beach volleyball tournament is here. Holy Cross has 7 slots available for seven teams. Anyone interested should see Mr. Ferry or senior Seth Braquet ASAP. FORMS AND MONEY ARE DUE THIS WEEK. It is a first come first serve basis meaning that the first seven teams signed up and turns all of their forms and money in will get the spots. Cost is $100 per team plus the cost of the shirts which is $10. The event will be held at Coconut Beach in Kenner on April 11th. Also, you may buy a t-shirt for $10 to go to the vent but do not have to be on a team. All the local schools will be in attendance.

Tonight the members of the high school choruses, in collaboration with Cabrini, will present a concert of pop music at MidCity Theater. Come on out and hear them sing, 7 pm tonight.

Attention Juniors:

Your retreat will be this Friday March 13 at St. Joseph Abbey. Please turn in your permission slip and money to Dr. Kettenring as soon as possible. Dress code as follows: Please wear a Holy Cross Shirt, No flip-flops, pajama pants or sweatpants. Please make sure you bring a bag lunch the day. Food will not be provided. Please be on time for school. We are planning on leaving school at 8:20am.


This is week two of our Pennies for Patients program. Remember guys we have teamed up with thousands of other schools nation-wide to join in the battle against cancer…With a fantastic start, we still have time to raise more and reach our goal of $15,000. We CAN make a difference in the lives of those battling cancer. Please continue to raise money for the program. Bring in loose change, ask your family and friends to donate. Our final day will be next Friday March 20.

This past week, Holy Cross had @30 students competing in the Greater New Orleans Science and Engineering Fair at UNO. Of the 23 projects, half of them received awards.

Attention all 5th -8th graders interested in playing golf. We will begin Middle School golf practice this Wednesday, March 4 at City Park Driving Range. Please see Coach Ellzey to sign up and get more information.

A representative from LSU's College of Engineering will be on campus on Tuesday, March 3rd during the high school lunch. The visit will take place in the Student Activities Center. If you are interested in learning more about LSU's various engineering programs, computer science, or construction management; you are encouraged to attend.

Attention all 8th - 12th graders... the annual Crescent Tiger Throw Down is in two weeks. Shirts must be ordered by this Wednesday. Cost of the shirt is only $15 and the shirt is your ticket in the door plus food for the night. If you do not order a shirt, you can still go but will pay $15 at the door but will not get the shirt. the event is Friday March 6th from 7-10pm. Local Holy Cross band Paris Avenue will perform as well as Code 30 who will open for them. See Mr. Ferry in the activities office to order your shirt.

Attention middle schooler students: USA wrestling season and Tiger wrestling club starts the week after Mardi gras. Practice is every Tuesday and Thursday after school. There will be a sign up sheet on wrestling room door.

Attention all middle schoolers. The USA wrestling season has arrived. Come sign up for Tiger Wrestling Club today! There is a sign up sheet on the wrestling room door. Practice is every Tuesday and Thursday after school. All you need is your PE uniform.



Congratulations to the Varsity tennis team on a solid victory against St. Martins in the first match of the season. The team won 6 out of 7 matches. Josh Reimonenq, Daniel Bulloch, Noah Pizzuto, Will Pizzuto, Carson Doles, Trevor Ramagos, and Bryce Montalbano all played great tennis to secure the win for the team.

Attention all current and interested Beach Volleyball players, there will be general information meeting held this Thursday at 7:30am in H205. All current players as well as those interested in joining our championship-winning team should attend. We will discuss the spring league schedule as well as jersey & sweatshirt ordering information.

Attention Middle School Quiz Bowl Members:

There will be a meeting today in room M105 from 3:20 to 4:05. Not only will trivia be offered but there will also be discussions for the next Tournament on March 7th & 14th.

Those able to attend these tournaments please attend this meeting.

In TCAC yesterday, the Cavaliers defeated the Heat by only 2 points! Shane Welch led his team with 6 points. The Warriors beat the Mavericks with a score of 34 to 20. Trevor Terminie led his team with 15 points and Trent Terminie had two 3 pointers! The Mavericks and Cavaliers will be playing for the championship today after school. Good luck to everyone!
