Attention all students! Your Holy Cross Tiger Lacrosse team will be hosting our Gentilly rival, the Brother Martin Crusaders this Saturday here on campus. The scrimmage is set for 2:00pm. Please come out and support your HC Tiger Lacrosse Teams as we take on the Crusaders.

There will not be a field trip for chorus members today.

Attention all current 8th graders through 11th graders: Football tryouts for the 2015 team will be held Saturday, December 13, 2014 at 8:00am. Meet in the weight room and please bring cleats, t-shirt and shorts. If you are taking the ACT and are interested in trying out, please see Coach Rebaudo for information.

The Varsity Basketball team will play host to the Chalmette Owls today at 7:00pm. The Tigers are 5-3 and will be facing a tough opponent in Chalmette. Freshmen starts at 4:30pm, JV at 5:30pm and Varsity at 7:00pm, so come out and support your Tigers!

Attention Students: This is reminder that we are holding a sock drive for the homeless... Please drop the socks off to the Student Activities Office...The last day to bring in socks will be Wednesday December 17, 2014.

Hola Amigos! The Spanish Club will hold its last meeting of the semester this Thursday, December 11 in the Student Activities Room from 2:35-3:45.

In TCAC soccer yesterday, France, led by Evan Jones with 2 goals defeated Portugal 2 to 0. In the second match, Germany outscored Belgium 4 to 1. Jake D'Agostino had 2 goals while Ethan Ward and Derrick Sandrock had one each for Germany. Bryce Gauthier had the lone goal for Belgium. Matches continue today with Belgium taking on Portugal at 2:45 followed by Germany taking on France with first place up for grabs.

TCAC soccer continues today with Belgium and Portugal meeting in the first match followed by Germany and France.

We are accepting short stories, poems, and creative essays on all topics from students of all grade levels. Email your work to Dr. Jacobi and it could be posted on the literary magazine blog on the HC website.

Attention students: Don't forget to send your creative writing to the literary magazine by Wednesday, December 10. We are accepting short stories, poems, and creative essays on all topics from students of all grade levels. Email your work to Dr. Jacobi and it could be posted on the literary magazine blog on the HC website.

It's time to audition for The Music Man! Go to the home page and scroll through the news items. You will find all the information you need for auditioning right there. Auditions begin on Monday at 2:30, and don't forget to bring a thumb drive.

Attention Middle School Quiz Bowl Members who attended the Academy of Our Lady Academic Games this past Saturday: please meet in front of the Middle School Office with your medal. We will take a photo near the Christmas tree in the hallway.

And Congratulations to those who attended: all placed in an separate game. Results will be posted on the website this week.

Attention 8th-12th graders... our Holy Cross Winter Formal "AKA Sweetheart" Dance will be held on January 24th in the Pontchartrain Center from 8 to 11pm. The dress code is the same as Homecoming. This actually will be our Basketball Homecoming to celebrate WOOSH Week. However, instead of having a homecoming court we will have a couples court with a king and queen being named at the halftime of the game against Shaw. Anyone interested in nominating themselves and their date for the court should see Mr. Ferry.

Attention all students... the student activites office is taking orders for Holy Cross New Orleans sweatshirts. Cost of the sweatshirt is $25 and they come in navy or gray, hooded or non hooded. See Mr. Ferry to order your sweatshirt. We will only make the amount of sweatshirts that have been ordered. All orders are due next Friday to have them completed for the day you return from Christmas break. Again, see Mr. Ferry.

Attention students: Do you enjoy writing poetry or short stories in your free time? Did you write a creative or interesting poem, short story, or essay in one of your classes this year? The literary magazine is looking for your work. We will be collecting student poems, stories, and essays between now and Wednesday, December 10. Students of all grade levels are encouraged to participate, If you would like the Literary magazine to consider posting your work on the school website, please email your creative writing to Dr. Jacobi by December 10.

The Student Activities Office is hosting a Christmas Door Decorating Contest. The idea was brought to us by Tara Lavender. The hope and goal is to make the buildings very spirited for the holiday season between now and the end of exams. With that said, this is what we are asking all homeroom teachers, as well as staff offices if they would like to participate, to do:
1.Decorate your homeroom and staff door for Christmas
2.Have as much student input as possible!
3.The best decorated homeroom door will receive a pizza party for the entire homeroom class (or office).
4.Be as creative as possible!
5.The more elaborate the better!
6.Dr. Murry and Mrs. Billings will judge the doors during the exam week.
7.Winners will be announced before the break.
8.Decorations should be completed by Friday of this week.
9.Use only appropriate materials such as blue tape to decorate (or anything that will not damage the face of the doors or windows)

Any questions feel free to email me and let the best homeroom win (or staff office).



Attention All 8th graders through Juniors:

Football tryouts for the 2015 football team will be held on Saturday, December 13th at 8 am on the Middle School Field. Tryouts will last approximately one hour. If you are currently on the team you do not need to attend.

ATTENTION ALL POWERLIFTERS:
This is a reminder that your 2014 Lift-A-Thon is this Friday December 5th beginning at 3pm.
All lifters participating in this years Lift-A-Thon must weigh in this Thursday December 4th either before or after school with Coach Giglio, or Coach Lacoste.
Again, this is a reminder that the Lift-A-Thon is this Friday and all lifters must weigh in Thursday either before or after school with one of the powerlifting coaches

Congratulations to the 8th grade basketball team for their 47-19 win over John Curtis. The team was lead defensively by an entire team effort, while Tyler Beaver led the offense with 18 points.

Letterman jackets for those who placed an order in September are in. Please see Ms. Lyons in room H202 before school, at lunch or after school to pick up your jacket.

Board Games Club will have its traditional Friday meeting from 3:20 to 4:05 in room M105. Today's game is UNO.

Attention 8th through 12th graders:

The required TOPS Consent Forms are due Thursday. If you have the signed form with you please turn it into your homeroom teacher NOW! The required TOPS Consent Form was emailed to your primary parent as a reminder for the second time Tuesday afternoon. If you have not turned a consent form in please ask your parent to check their email, fill out the form and give it to you so you can turn it in. Again, this form is required by the state and is due by Thursday.

Homeroom teachers please send a student with all the collected forms to the guidance office now. Thank you.

The bowling tryout scheduled for today has been cancelled due to the senior retreat. Anyone who was planning on trying out that hasn't already talked to one of the coaches, please contact Coach Ducote.

In TCAC Soccer yesterday, Germany shut out France 4 to 0 . Luke Ashley and Derrick Sandrock had two goals each to lead Germany. In the second match, Portugal and Belgium played to 2-all tie. Dylan Liuzza had 2 goals for Belgium while Portugal was led by Eli LaFrance and Jake Romig with one goal each. Matches continue tomorrow with all four teams in action.

Ayden Walker and Kyler VanCamp had a goal a piece for Portugal while Charles Saurwin and Evan Jones scored for France. TCAC soccer will start tomorrow with Belgium taking on Germany at 2:25pm followed by Portugal and France at 3:10pm. Players are reminded to put their book bags in their lockers before coming to the middle school field.Players should wear their P.E. shorts and their game t-shirts.

Attention all Basketball managers. There is a mandatory meeting with Coach Arvites in the Gym directly after school. The meeting is mandatory for all basketball managers and will take 5 minutes.

Attention all power lifters. We will have a brief meeting Friday November 21 (Tomorrow) immediately after school. the meeting will last 5-10 minutes.

Power lifters there will be a brief meeting after school tomorrow for about 15 minutes for the holiday season. REPEAT

Attention Seniors:

The first Senior Retreat will be held on Thursday December 4 when we get back from Thanksgiving break... If you are attending this retreat please turn your money and permission slip into Coach Jackson or Mr. Ferry by this Friday.

NASA Director Addresses Students

HC Alumnus Patrick Scheuermann, '82, Director of NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, AL, spoke to students this morning about his role in the agency and NASA's future space missions. The students in attendance were fascinated by Pat's presentation and learned about the many opportunities available to them with NASA.
Thanks, Pat! Your HC Family is very proud of you and grateful for the time you spent with our students.

The Tiger Cross Country team ended their season yesterday in Natchitoches, at the State meet, finishing 13th out of 47 teams. The young squad was led by freshman, Blake Baldassaro, placing 22nd individually. Following close behind was fellow freshman Adam Sequeira, sophomore Payne Espenan, senior Michael Lopiparo, sophomore Dominic Lincoln, sophomore Blake Desselle, and senior Kobe Dumas.

Attention Seniors:

The Tiger Cross Country team ended their season yesterday in Natchitoches, at the State meet, finishing 13th out of 47 teams. The young squad was led by freshman, Blake Baldassaro, placing 22nd individually. Following close behind was fellow freshman Adam Sequeira, sophomore Payne Espenan, senior Michael Lopiparo, sophomore Dominic Lincoln, sophomore Blake Desselle, and senior Kobe Dumas.

Attention Students:
This is just a reminder that we will be serving the men of Ozanam Inn Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday November 23, 2014. And we are still looking for a few good men to help serve. We will meet at the Ozanam Inn for 12:00pm and finish about 4:00pm. If you would like to sign up please see Coach Jackson in the Student Activities Office or the Huddle during high school lunch. For those of you already signed up please make sure wear a Holy Cross shirt on Sunday.

Attention freshman basketball players: the freshmen basketball team will have practice today and tomorrow from 2:50pm to 4:15pm.

The Holy Cross Basketball team opens up its season tonight against Lake Area High School. This is the first time the Tigers have ever played our Paris Avenue neighbors. Tip-off is set for 7 PM at Lake Area High School, JV starts at 5:30pm. Come out and support your Tigers in this Paris Avenue Rivalry.
