Dear Holy Cross Family,
I am happy to announce that with the help of Byron Arthur ’83, and the financial support of four other alumni, we have been able to once again have a debate team that is participating in a complete competition schedule. I know with the guidance of Byron and the support of faculty moderator Kylie Kastes, the team will once again be achieving success on a national level. One more step in our recovery.
Our robotics team, under the guidance of faculty moderators Dale Turner and Kelly Claverie, once again won the hub competition at Mississippi State and advanced to the regionals at Auburn University. This same team hosted the state elementary LEGO® robotics competition with over 60 teams participating from around the state. Robotics is a major program at HC.
Dr. Warren Bernard, our head of Student Research and STEM Coordinator, will lead the Science and Engineering Fair at the end of January. It will be the first fair in many years, and over 30 alumni engineers have volunteered to serve as judges.
The construction of our new cafeteria has begun and should be completed for the 2012-13 school year. The baseball field construction is well underway and should be completed by the end of January. We hope to play our opening game on that field this year.
As we begin this new year, let us pray to our founder, Blessed Father Basil Moreau, and to Saint André Bessette, the first recognized saint of the Congregation of Holy Cross, for past, present, and future blessings as we carry forward old traditions, make new ones, and continue the mission. May 2012 be a year of abundant blessings for you and your loved ones.
